A quick run down on how to accurately measure and report distances using the marks ( mil dots ) on binoculars and rifle scopes.

Getting the AI Mil height is critical, take that measurement very carefully or you won't get an accurate range.

with my binocs that have the range finder, the house across the street is 100 yards away, I checked it with a laser rangefinder. the house on the next street which I have a clear view of is 200 yards. when looking at the door of each house with the binocs, I think it read as 12 high on the scale, and the further one was 6 on the scale. a door is a little over six feet tall, so I use that as the scale for a man. then just do the math for other distances. another good range finder if you work it out in advance is your arm held out straight and thumb up. your built in range finder is with you everywhere you go.

I'm not sure what the keybinding is for holding your arm out and thumb up in ARMA, but I'll try to find it :-)

Each number is x10 - so the 1=10 mils, 2=20 mils etc

Is there a specific MOD or DLC with that specific reticle pattern? From the multiple DLCs I have I still can't find that specific bino pattern to use for Artillery.

Is the formula the same if the binocs is zoomed in? If not, what's the formula for max zoom?

The mil dots should change in size to match the zoom. If they don't change, nothing you do will be accurate.
