Im an infantryman in the marine corps. Great freaking work on this video. You know your stuff I love this game so much because it makes me feel like im in the field. Down to just hiking in the pinewoods, riding in the 7tons, getting lost and breathing heavy and not being able to see at dark.

I took a cartography class in college and its has never been useful until now, excited for mortars as I already grasp this concept strongly and have Arland 90% memorized. I have a feeling whoever gets good with mortars and coms as soon as possible is going to be changing the tides of battle on par with the command truck

I learned navigation in ROTC back in the early 2000s, I didnt end up going into the service but it was very useful and Ive used the knowledge in both arma and basic survival and its actually saved my life

I learned navigation through working as a surveyor its cool that they are pretty much simplifying navigation. Really good video for sure.

To be fair, this is more of a paid techdemo then a true game. It's a stepping stone to introduce modders to the enfusion engine to get ready for arma4. Somewhat makes sense that the final touches like tutorials aren't really there. It's fun as heck though

For the PlayStation players out there thinking how much it sucks that they don’t get mods. Take it from someone on Xbox. They don’t work nearly as well as vanilla anyway take forever to download and there’s admin who will kick you out for literally no reason you’re not missing much. I have access to all the mods and all the bells and whistles, and still choose to play vanilla mostly because it functions better sure, there’s no GPS. But the game doesn’t crash every 15 minutes either it only crashes once an hour.

My game crashed every few minutes but it was bc I downloaded mods, I deleted my mods I had and i haven't experienced hardly any crashes on the game, I'm on xbox btw

Great video mate, love the in depth info but I never take it that far. I just look for a town find the name and use my compass that way and follow roads 😅😂 too annoying and hard clicking through all the buttons on ps5 I’d definitely be doing this though if I had a PC. Great vid 👍

In Arma 3, you could make the compass larger on the map screen. It’s equally annoying on PC that that feature isn’t in Reforger.

Correct mate, the Russian compass is a little different the gold hand on the needle points north and the gold arrow on the housing shows your bearing I believe. I could be slightly wrong on that it might be the other way around. I haven’t been on for a hot minute but will double check next time I’m on for you!

If Bohemia wants to keep the sony playerbase they need to make navigation a bit easier. Just an option for players to be able to see map markers on the hud. And before anyone says anything about realism or immersion there are other things on the hud that break that.

Or…get better at using the map. Honestly you don’t even need to go through all this to get to where you want to go. On the map screen in the bottom right hand corner it tells you where you are in text.

Many don't have the time or inclination to learn land nav just for a video game. And I'm just saying let it be an option in the settings. You don't want to use it then don't.

Navigation is part of what makes this a sim. It's one detail in a series of details that make this game what it is. It's like wanting to remove night time because it's dark. That's the game! There are a thousand other games that offer what you want.

As a new player on xbox ive been using combat ops to help myself get use to navigating by compass and land marks. Still rather confused on the different markers you can place on the map. I should also note im playing vanilla on xbox as i want to fool around with mods once im more familiar with the game.

Yeah nice! So the map markers are based on military map markers for different maneuvers/ targets. I still don’t know them all to be honest I just try and be consistent if I’m marking enemies or an objective. You’ll get used to them

The church is the only church in that grid 😂, seriously on the Arland map signal hill is relatively the middle of the map and can be easily seen in the dark you will have a pretty good idea roughly your location.

Im really trying, but this seems unrealistically hard for ps5 players compared to pc players that it takes away from the realism. When you dont have to spend 3 minutes figuring out exactly where in hell u are on the map, to night vision scopes. Its always night when i go in the game. I cant see a thing. Sure use your shit flash light so they can definitely see you coming. I get within feet of them and i dont know where they are, but they somehow can always find me. Im laying on the ground, in the bush. AT NIGHT. And these people are shooting me down before i ever even figured out theres people near me. Im so careful. Im not just storming in. But its really starting to feel that its not just a skill issue. That this is a mod issue where you hsve the upper hand on me. Or am i wrong?

Odd, I do not see option to reduce AI accuracy in game master. I thought there was a way to edit accuracy, disperse rate, etc, in game? Now AI is aim bot!
