So in 1983 Armenians of Karabakh signed referendums according to Soviet law for self independence. Azerbaijan refused it and started killing thousands of Armenians between 1988-1992 and started the first war! So civilians suffered on both sides. That’s war! Artsakh has always been an autonomous oblast. The people there voted to join Armenia under Soviet constitution as tension were not good for Armenians under Azeri administration. What has happened under in 2020 was not KARMA but illegitimate theft through force.

At least because, there are a few mistakes in your comment: 1) when Nagorno-Karabakh was an autonomous oblast, nobody acknowledged it as Artsakk, 2) there was no tension for Armenians under the Azeri administration, that is not correct, 3) the point in my comment above was that that house in Shusha previously belonged to an Azeri family, which is undeniable. Ninety percent of Shusha's population before its occupation by Armenia in 1992 was Azeris.

As well as ancient maps of the region mark the areas of Armenian world. As an Iranian Azerbaijani (or as we ourselves and the Armenians call us: Turk), I'm sorry to see these wars, hatred, and hardships in our neighbors. I really wished that the Sumqayit and Baku pogroms didn't happen and all these ethnic cleanings, massacres, fights, and killings wouldn't happen afterward. I really loved how the head of that family talked in the video. Azerbaijanis and Armenians for centuries had lived in peace and friendship in Karabakh, in Yerevan, and in Baku. Why couldn't Armenia and Azerbaijan just live in peace in the way that Armenia and Georgia or Azerbaijan and Georgia do? I feel bad for this family and all of the displaced Armenians of Karabakh as I feel bad for the displaced Azerbaijanis of Karabakh from 30 years ago. Past is past and we can't change it, but I hope there will be peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia one day soon.

As An Azerbaijani, I don't agree with you. It is not the government. It is what we think. It is not the baku regime . In Azerbaijan, Armenians are murderers that is all. You cannot expect the people that you murdered respect you. Actions have consequences and they have to be paid. Whether woth money or with lives. We demanded justice and they didn't accept it. Not really. The separatist movement started in 1988 before the fall of the USSR - the people of NK wanted to join Armenia since the region was over 90% Armenian. That said, there is no question that Russia provokes continued conflict and they don't want to see it resolved - but to do that they play both sides. They support Azerbaijan and Armenia and send both weapons so that the fighting continues, which is nothing at all like the examples you mentioned where Russia very clearly supports only the separatists.

@cengizhan8129 This is a very simple and complicated matter at the same time for armenia. On one side having the issue of Karabagh is extremely bad for Armenia. Essentially they are in economic blockade. They have been outside of all major regional projects for the last 30 years due to this conflict. Their international debt is high, foreign investment has been falling since 2008 steadily, they were reliant on russia on many things. At the end of 1990s some smart Armenain politicians knew about it and wanted to return occupied territories back to Azerbaijan or make a deal that involve swapping lands. But extensive nationalism and war victory got into their head. They became greedy and did not want to return anything. Including 7 districts that were no doubt Azerbaijani territories. So they overthrew one government, and shot the head of another of their government that were in favor of a deal. Armenia became a victim of it's own patriotism, pride, nationalism. Essentially it is beneficial for Armenia to get rid of Nagorno Karabagh as that would allow them to move forward. Get out of economic blockade. But, no leader could go forward and tell that to armenian population. They would kill him/her immediately. They became the victim of their own greed and win
