Russians long considered Armenia an unimportant vassal that could easily be brought back into line if the Kremlin choose to do so. In an ironic twist of fate, it is now this little neighbour that many Russians now turn to for asylum. Russia's youth and well-off middle-class rejects Moscow's politics and fear being drafted into fighting a war they don't believe in.

This is why Iran allowed armenians into Tehran and allowed to keep their religion and not be persecuted. Armenians are forever thankful. My grandfather grew up in Lebanon as an armenian. We are trying to heal with Turks but it's hard when they deny their past war crimes. (Genocide)

@@travellogger5080 remain to be seen how many of these Russians finally settle and take permanent citizenship. Demographics is destiny and Armenia is in desperate need of young and entrepreneurial people by the hundreds of thousands. Longer term a population of 5-10 million people is a must if it has to answer the threat to its sovereignty and ensure a prosperous, peaceful future. Encourage more & more Russians and Ukrainians to find their permanent home in Armenia

1. Most of these people are in Armenia only because they have no better option; some of them do not even like it there and complain. 2. Thanks to all these people the rent and apartment prices skyrocketed, becoming unaffordable for locals. 3. Due to the influx of all the currency they brought, the local currency became expensive and the local products became less competitive for export. 4. These people do not even want to call themselves immigrants; they call themselves "relocants" because while the Armenians moving to Russia are called immigrants and gastarbeiters, Russians apparently are too good to be immigrants.

That’s pity ass take you came up with. A person that’s willing to work regardless of the origin has a chance to live comfortably in Armenia. Influx of high income jobs is only helping Armenia. Your take is literally flawed and based on opinions that only the complainers in Armenia have. Btw this is coming from an Armenian.

You are wrong. They are indeed running from war, because if they are in Russia, they will be forced to become soldiers and go to the front. Russia is forcefully mobilizing men for the army.

My issue is that most of them aren't learning Armenian. If Armenians move to Russia they learn Russian, if Russians move to Germany they learn German, Russians (or anyone) moving anywhere should learn the local language. I finally understand 10% of how people in the Baltics feel as there this issue is way bigger.

I never thought there will be so many "Russian refugees" when the Russian military entered Ukraine. And there are many Ukrainian refugees in Russia as well. With many Ukrainian nationals with partial Russian ancestry and many Russian nationals with partial Ukrainian ancestry, it's beyond tragic.
