I won't say that they are either straight or gay, I'm only referring to them as straight as that is what has been reported about both of them. So, I can't say what either or both of them truly are. But given the intense gazes they give each other, the way they hang on to every word they utter with such adoration, the giddy laughing at things that are not necessarily funny but to them it's like a code for them, the way they talk only to each other (whispering) when in a panel with their colleagues and do not do the same with their colleagues, suggests that there is possibly something more intimate than friendship going on. I think two factors combined to make their relationship and chemistry work both on and off screen. The first is that they are both comfortable with and confident in their sexuality, and so when Luca rehearsed them making out, they went for it without qualms. Armie loves telling that story, and that shows how comfortable he was with it. Luca was a genius to rehearse their first kiss the way he did to make it real. The second factor, I think, is that as the older and more experienced actor, Armie quickly recognized Timothee's abilities and he truly admired what Timothee was able to do in his first big movie, and really wants to help and support him. At the same time, Timothee looked up to Armie as the more experienced performer. They became real-life Oliver and Elio like that.

Yes. For example: Dirty Dancing, where Baby is 17 and Johnny is 24. I have never heard anyone complaining about their agegap or that she was a minor in the USA where that movie took place. Yet so many people talk about the agegap between Elio and Oliver, while the age of consent in Italy is 14 (as for most European countries). Why is that?

This movie is based in a place where the legal age of consent is 14. I think we should be grateful that it was closer to 18 lol

oh come on people, the dude Armie is a married guy...the making of that movie must have left them with some form of emotional attachment, the had to live the characters, that can be dangerous ...oil and water dont mix..the oil always stays on top while in a container...imagine oil being real life and water being character...if you swim in real life you will be oily, but dive down to become a fictional character, even though the oil of life will shield your clothes somewhat, it wont prevent you from getting wet....but let the guys betheir lives will change yes but dont drive them to goo deeper.
