I feel so privileged to be watching these two artists who I consider to be the absolute top class in music. Armin has probably had the biggest impact on introducing trance music to the masses and even though he pumps out too many tracks these days (yeah yeah I know the reasons...) with many of them lacking that what we true trance enthusiasts want (I myself have been enjoying trance since the golden days back in 1999), he continuously always manages to come up with one of the best tunes of the year. And I have always considered Benno to be an absolute genius, really, I think he and Vincent de Moor have historically shown the greatest talent. Both Benno and Armin have a spot in my top five all time favourite trance tracks. I know it's hard these days, the trance scene hasn't been the same since the golden days back in 1999-2001, it has evolved into something different, but I have to praise the Gaia project. Since Tuvan back in 2009 it has been the shining gem which to this day still makes me believe that great trance music can never be dead as long as we have projects like Gaia. Seriously, I can be very critical, but so far there has not been a single bad (or even average) track from Gaia. It always hits the spot. Last year as the album was about to get released, I was nervous...even a little afraid...but then it blew me away right the first time I heard it. Yes, it is different than the previous singles, it doesn't have the "Gaia sound" but this is..this is art...pure musical art. My mind was blown. I have the CD because I want to have the tracks mixed and enjoy the continuous journey. I also bought most of the songs individually just to be able to list to them separately...aaand I even bought a few of the extended versions, because they're just that good. There are so many ways you can enjoy listening to the album. I AM hoping for a sequel. Thank you Armin and Benno, thank you for indirectly being an important part of my life, stay true to your style, don't abandon the "Gaia sound" when making individual tracks and feel free to experiment with more moons of the Jupiter!

What an incredible interview. I couldn't help but smile at the moments you could FEEL the bromance radiating from the screen. Their mutual understanding is amazing. Consider this: being a creator of any kind can be one of the greatest gifts to experience as a human being. To have two such minds on the same level as far as creation goes, - with them also being close friends! - must be... Wow... I envy that!! And I had no idea they actually built their own custom controllers! Imagine being frustrated with limited technology but rather than lament What Could Have Been you have an Armin telling you "Why not build it yourself then??"! The audio-tech engineering bits in this interview only make me appreciate the album (and the liveshow) even more! This album was already magical for me. Benno as Rank 1 and Armin through 76, Shivers and his ASOT Radioshow laid the foundations for me embracing Trance over the course of 2003-2005. In the next 5 years or so these guys made me embrace other (sub)genres through their singles, albums and collabs. Benno did some dope stuff with the likes of Jochen Miller and Ronald van Gelderen as well, and even occasionally helped some of his High Contrast Recordings colleagues at the time like JOOP and Artento Divini! Benno has been my favorite producer for a loooong time now and I am thrilled to see an interview with him where he gets to express his passion for music and audio technology. I have an immense respect for not just his music but also his musical mindset and overall character (then again, born in March, Pisces, we are an awesome lot hehe!). Armin used to be THAT GUY for me, the all-round champion: radioshows, compilations, remixes, singles, albums, DJ sets. One charismatic humoristic mofo with a killer musical mojo. Seemingly everything he touched or smiled at turned to gold. But then... I was one of those fans that got heavily disillusioned with him from 2011 onward: In this interview he elaborates on 2010 being a year he discovered how he pleased himself to little. His "creative liberation" meant me losing on of my biggest heroes musical because the direction he moved into could not and never did enchant me. I mean to each their own, and good on him that he found himself but the marriage of Dance music with Pop was an atrocity imo and not at all what I had hoped for when I wanted Dance Music to get mainstream back in 2008... Aw well, to be young and naive right? :') For me Pop is Pop and Dance is Dance. They CAN overlap but they don't have to, especially when the 1001 cliches of the former undermine the potential brilliance of the latter. But again, just my personal opinion. So 2011-2017 I don't really follow Armin all that much. But then! October 2018. Paradiso in my hometown of Amsterdam. The Moons Of Jupiter Live show. Benno and Armin dressed like priests or Sith Lords or whatever. Playing LIVE synthesizer driven mystical electronic sounds that went back to the roots of their sounds... And beyond! As a Rank 1 fanatic (2005-ongoing) and an Armin die-hard (in 2005-2010 at least) that never cared for their venture into Dance Pop all I ever wanted was for them to come back to "this side" - not forever per se - but just for a little bit. Because they do it SO WELL. The Mirage title track is still one of my three favorite tracks by them as a duo. Might very well have been the pinacle of the old Armin van Buuren sound. I wanted something in that vein, an instrumental genre blender! No focus on lyrics/vocals/lovey-dovey lalalal Trance=angels and heaven cringefest! And for a while it seemed that was NEVER going to happen again... When they made that track Club Embrace back in 2016... A track that sounded like it could have been on the Shivers album or opened an ASOT episode back in those proggy/techy days! I LOVED that track (still do). The compilation that followed was nice. Tracks like Ping Pong, My Symphony and Ygrene Taht Rof Evil I, albeit somewhat gimmicky, were really cool imo and just the fact these two weren't "wasting" their seemingly endless talents on boring pop tunes made me love them. And the fact PP is Acid-driven, MS has a bit of a Faithless-meets-Full Focus vibe and YTREI is Techno. Also, the warm-up sets Armin did for his celebratory ASOT episodes starting from 2011 were something that I really enjoyed as a longer-time fan. He kept giving those "tiny treats" even in the years he was "musically finding himself" for those of us that had been there BEFORE he got nominated for a Grammy and all that. So yeah, I had given up hope to dare DREAM they would actually go beyond all of the above at some point an bring into existence something like Moons Of Jupiter. It's still surreal to me some 1,5 years later! For me, Moons Of Jupiter is the most musically mature project these two have ever done. The live show was one of my three favorite music shows ever and the fact that the album stayed very true to that unforgettable night makes it one of my all-time faves in the album department. They f*cking killed it! To think it's exactly one year ago it got released is bonkers... Between June and December 2019 I played that album several times a week, from start to finish. I've NEVER replayed an album SO much in my whole life!!! And that's not including all the times I went for the album cuts or extended mixes instead! Armin and Benno: THANK YOU for this album, that liveshow, this incredible interview and congratulations on the 1-year anniversary of your greatest work yet. I raise a glass to you, stay safe and keep on rocking!

This is the best interview ever. Benno and Armin really have nothing but respect toward each other. They are that kind of partner/relationship which you wish to have in real life. I'm glad that they finally created an album to show everyone who they really are. It's not just about a specific genre. Trance techno acid ambient who gives a shit. Music is music. I want the people who have been doubting Armin's ability on producing to watch this video, over and over again. It's time for them to shut their mouth about "b-but Armean uses ghost-producer, his name is Bennah don't you know that.." forever. The same for every trance purists that never want to move on and accept the fact that trance is not the only good music genre or superior. 30:20 These two have get to the level where they no longer need to produce music to please anybody. There is no box when it comes to creativity and no one ever has the right to force a musician to make or not to make this or that kind of music. But too bad, close-minded people will never get it.

This interview is so great, very thorough and detailed, and what's best, we finally got some answers straight from them, as so far we could only assume some stuff (I'm glad that as a superfan, I've really have guessed most of them). Armin and Benno are true geniuses and, with all due respect to other trance producers, way above and ahead from the rest. I will never be thankful enough for them making this album as it is still here on play, both on vinyl and streams, and I was one of the lucky 1500 who got ticket for Moons Of Jupiter show as they were sold out in a flash. Thank you for your dedication, hard work and genuine love for electronic music

I loved the old Gaia sound, their first public appearance at the Ultra 2014 marked a the beginning of a very beautiful stage with my friends that coincided with my rediscovering of love for electronic music for the next few years. I recognize the technical merit of the Moons of Jupiter, and the fact that they strive for something personal, not really commercial at all. I doubt that they will go back to their old trance sounds in the near future, though.

"Rhythm is both the song's manacle and it's demonic charge. It is the original breath, it is the whisper of unremitting demand". "4 elements" and that GJ outro on ASOT 200... After so many years I still get shivers, and it takes me back to some past times. Not many tracks on this planet can compete with that piece of work. And those are pretty much also from your old kitchen. Everything lacks the emotion somehow these days, it lacks groove. No one makes that kind of music anymore. Its not about the high end studios and full stadiums. It never was. And I never resented to you guys for going out of it. But I really do miss you both. We all do. Me and trance go way back when I was just a kid, and you guys barely had facial hair behind your decks. I believe no one can take away what you did for trance. I grew up with your sound, and I will die with it. Thank you for everything, and best regards from Croatia.
