Quite an achievement to take a simple, reliable and effective gun, copy it and produce a bludgeon. Did someone sober actually take the first model, use it on the firing range (presumiably to nail up a target) and said: 'that'll sell!'
@Sid_Black10 жыл бұрын
Aint that the same way they make almost everything else these days ? Why would you take something that works and copy it in a way that it will keep on working ? You need to make stuff that is cheap shit so it will break down. Otherwise noone would buy your other products or spare parts. Thats why everyone should keep the oldest guns and cars you can get a hold on. You can fix a lot yourself AND it is not made to break down after some weeks/months.
@samrussell40659 жыл бұрын
In other words, we are looking at a form of inverted genius: most people would find it almost impossible to copy such a simple, reliable design and produce a heap of junk. These people must have really worked at it, with precision and determination. I hope they didn't branch out into other precision areas, like heart monitors...

I bought one of these Scarab Skorpion's a few week ago. In an attempt to gain information on the gun I did a Google search and found your review. I was very disenchanted to say the least after seeing it. When I had a chance to shoot it I experienced similar feed issues. I finally realized it was the magazine, not the gun. If you take the magazine after it's fully loaded and give it a couple light taps (floor plate to palm) it fires perfectly. It's not my Sig 228, but it's a fun gun to shoot.
@jonathanhudson46237 жыл бұрын
Seems like the perfect ghetto blaster. What's funny is I actually had a collection of 3 tec9 hand guns at one time. 2 fullsize and one shorty and all 3 worked flawlessly. I sold the shorty and the one I shot the most and I still have the one that came with all of it's original paperwork and box. It's been fired a total of 74 times since it was bought new in 1994 before the clinton ban. It's never once had any failures. To be honest the shorty did have problems when I got it but it was magazine related and a previous "gunsmith" put a fullsize tec9 recoil spring in it. I modified the spring and used the other magazines to find out the exact specs for the feed lips for the shorty's magazine and bent them back into the proper position and it worked perfectly after that. One major issue with tec9 guns is they are made for nato spec 9mm rounds which most commercial loads just aren't as hot and lack the prussure/power to get them to cycle properly. Great video, funny, and informative. If I was going to find a scorpion clone I'd get an actual clone of one but I just don't see myself bother with a 32acp clone of a machine pistol. They are an interesting piece of history but they just won't find a place in my collection.

Probably the best semi-automatic ( civilianized ) version of the original military-issue vz.61 Skorpion that you can get in the United States is the vz.61 manufactured by Czech Small Arms ( CSA ), formerly D-Technik, of the Czech Republic, from unissued ( unused ) vz.61 parts kits. It is imported by Czechpoint-USA of Knoxville, TN and is available in the original 7.65mm Browning ( .32 ACP ) caliber as well as .380 ACP.

@DiverEngrSL17K11 жыл бұрын
As a follow-up to my previous comment, there is a very good video on the Czechpoint web site demonstrating the controllability and accuracy of the vz.61, even without a buttstock. They are also the U.S. distributors for CSA / D-Technik vz.58 rifles, vz.52 pistols, Alfa-Proj revolvers, accessories and other firearms-related items. I have two CSA / D-Technik vz.58's, and I have to say that they are my all-time favorites in the assault rifle class. Hope this helps a bit.

honestly, this "nightmare" actually just looks like that mag is the culprit, and a gentle app of spot check and sand paper could well transform performance to "somewhat more acceptable" (which, even if it rendered it entirely inoperable, would arguably not really "mess it up", lol). think about it, the mag is nice bendy polymer, and basically has to be driven into the well. that means at least one dimension is getting shrunken, while that at 90 degrees distorts. as that is right below the feed lips, you end up with the combined joys of "squirrely feed lips" and "dented mag friction" (that, of course, will immediately disappear when the mag is OUT, as the "squeeze" is no longer there). now, whether the fault is the mag well, or just the basic pez dispenser early mag dimensions (which determines who goes for a trim) would probably require careful consideration before just breaking loose with a dremel, or bridgeport
