Kirk, using your single plane swing I shot 82 yesterday. My best score in years! And if not for a 4 putt and 3 putt I would have been in the 70 s. My ball striking is so good with the single plane swing. I tell everyone I can about it. Thanks so much for making golf fun again, Jim Smith.

I recently purchased an armlock putter without really knowing what it was or how to use it correctly, just loved the way it feels. Now that I have been learning more about it and how to use it properly, I love it even more. Taking a little practice to get used to but, I have noticed I have not had a 3 putt since I started using it. Can't wait to see what happens as I start getting more and more comfortable with it. Thanks for the tutorial.

Hello Kirk. What arm would you say has the biggest influence on the stroke with the armlock method? Tks!
@Setup4Impact Жыл бұрын
Once locked against the leading arm the trailing arm is important at guiding the putter back and through without effecting the clubface. For many people the trailing hand adds rotation at impact which is not good.

Hi Jim, There are many putting drills that are very good. I like to hit a lot of putts with just the left and right hand on the putter. So I line up a straight put with balls 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 feet away and then putt until I make all 5 in a row, then I move 90 degrees to the side so that it is now a breaking putt and repeat. I also practice quite a bit at home with my perfect putting mat. I figure that you need to learn to hit every putt straight on a perfect surface, and the green is not perfect so better to practice that at home. I use the putting mat from bit.ly/2L7UEE8

Kirk, what is you view on the BioMech Putter?
@Setup4Impact2 жыл бұрын
Too much shaft lean to be a viable option for putting. Because of the shaft angle you have to setup very open and it makes it almost impossible to aim properly every time.
@chrismcvay82525 жыл бұрын
This is very interesting, did you have the putter shaft modified or did you purchase it this way?
@Setup4Impact5 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, I purchased it from Sikgolf like it is except I changed the grip orientation. They had the flat side toward the target, and I had it moved to the front toward the ball as most people would consider normal. The putter is 43 inches long, 76 degree lie angle and 7 degrees of loft. I determined the specs by trying various putters and also bought an inexpensive arm lock putter on ebay to try first. It was new and only around $79. So I experimented for a couple months and then ordered the SIK when I was sure that I wanted to putt that way.

Don't just copy what some pro you see in a KZbin video likes, Joe - find and test what works for YOU, especially regarding putting which is so much more nuanced, visual and feel-based. Try out various arm-lock brands and equipment. It's important to have the correct lie and loft angle relative to your own set-up and stroke. Get on a fitting launch monitor if possible. Knowing your arc is important too in determining how much toe-hang you will need, however with arm-lock putting technique, involving forward-shaft lean, you typically want a true face-balanced putter. Also, determine what swing-weight you prefer and what overall heft (weight) of club you like. The shaft he is using in this video is made by LA Shafts; lagolfshafts.com/ The putter is here; sikgolf.com/collections/armlock The grip he chose is here; superstrokeusa.com/product/traxion-flatso-17-putter-grip/

Curious what your grip pressure is in your left hand. I have the Sik DW and I like it but it’s not like my struggles have ended. Also curious if the stroke is more an arm swing or whether the arms and shoulders should work as a unit where the triangle never changes
@Setup4Impact4 жыл бұрын
I do not hold it very tight. I need to practice a bit though. Have not done a lot of putting lately. I use arms and shoulders together. On longer putts over 25 feet I just grip normally without armlock and that works well too.

I've just switched to this method in 2020. Used a belly putter for a couple of years and done ok. Once banned I switched to counter balance and really struggling. Play off 1 and my putting is crippling my game. Can play flawless ball striking rounds and hole nothing it's so frustrating. This is my last option.

So funny, people bitching on here that this should be illegal, that its bracing etc.--compared to allowing the driver head to expand to 400 cc this variance from the norm is nothing. Let some of these cry babies get a true case of the yips and they will do anything to still play this game without 4 putting and missing 2 foot putts.

If there was an advantage everyone would be doing it. How many top 10 in putting are putting armlock?
@Broncort13 жыл бұрын
This will be illegal on Tour. It’s the same as the belly putter in its method.
@Setup4Impact3 жыл бұрын
The putter is NOT anchored to the body. Anchoring to the arm below the elbow is allowed. This was already decided a few years ago so it is very unlikely to change.
@craigt6112 жыл бұрын
There is nothing locking the putter to the arm. The grip moves same speed as the left hand so it stays in contact with the left arm. Perfectly legal

So...do armlock putters also wear water wings when going to the local water park? 🤣 To me, that’s like the NHL allowing players to use snow shovels for hockey sticks!

So I guess you agree that using an armlock putter is easier, Right? So maybe you can explain why no tour player using an armlock putter is in the top ten this year in putting stats. If it is such an advantage then I would expect better results on tour.

@@Setup4Impact top 10 putter Schauffele converted recently. It makes sense that those struggling to putt would make the switch first, with the better putters following suit to compensate for their peers' success. They are talking about banning them along with greens books. "My putting coach, my whole team, honestly, we're very against change, and I had to see what the craze was about," Schauffele said then. "I do feel funny, obviously being a top-10 putter on tour, switching putters or the style of putting. It's a distinct advantage. I am for banning the arm-lock putters, but if everyone else is going to use it and I feel like they have a bigger advantage, I may as well do the same."

@@markhuru belly putting should never have been banned. None of the top putters, on tour used it. It hurt the amateurs and they are what drive the game of golf. The USGA gave into pressure from the older pros who didn't like the way it looked. Belly or arm lock or side saddle or traditional putting still requires a lot of skill to hole putts. The thing that needs to be looked at is the BALL. Great courses are being made obsolete because the ball goes so far. In 10 years the courses are going to have to be 8500 to 9000 yards long for the touring pros and top level amateurs. All that does is drive up the cost of an already pretty expensive game. Every time someone figures out a way to make a very hard game minutely easier and play a little better, pros cry foul. Give me a break.

@@roberteslick3050 I agree to an extent, my personal experience is any form of brace is helpful in making putts, that being said it forces players to consider the option of buying a longer putter. When the guy your playing against is dropping putts incredibly makes you feel as if he has an unfair advantage. My old player partner made putts all day long with his broom stick, when he switched he couldn’t make a putt.
