Hovhaness is a complete Original in so many ways; his extraordinary music, his character, his world-view. A mystical person in many ways. This piece fits in nicely with some of his great composition like- -Concerto #8 -Mysterious Mountain -Celestial Gate -Hymn to Glacier Peak -Loon Lake -Alleluia and Fugue -Arevakal -Harp Concerto -The Spirit of Trees -Prayer of St. Gregory

yes, it is a string symphony according to the list of works by Maestro Alan Hovhaness in wikipedia, which has his works listed by opus number. it uses data from Hovhaness website, Kunze catalogue, and the New Grove catalogue. these sources agree that it is a string symphony. the Kunze catalogue lists date of composition as 1977, but the New Grove catalogue lists date of composition as 1976. the Hovhaness website gives the date of composition as '76-'77. muchas gracias y saludos desde Tokio.

Here is Hovhaness in his most amiable, outgoing manner in a highly enjoyable work. It's not a profound work, such as the more famous "Mysterious Mountain" Symphony, but rather, it reminded me of spending a pleasant day in the park on a late spring day, with many moments of activity and repose.
