I love this stitch. I am making my husband a scarf that will have a cross woven into it. I love this stitch because it makes me think of Ephesians, the armor of God. Thank you for this video and pattern. It's perfect for his scarf.

This stitch is a counting variant of the Stamen Stitch (AKA Chinese Wave Stitch). Material stress properties of this stitch are very similar to those of the Stamen Stitch.

Is it at all possible to ask if you can do a similar style of stitch with crochet or do you know someone who has a video on the topic
@JoannesWeb6 жыл бұрын
We have several crochet stitches. Please check them out. Also, you could create something similar with a Tunisian hook.

It looks very nice and easy. Please you said a number multiple of.......? I didn't hear clearly. Thank you, and best regards
@csillakaszas72854 жыл бұрын
@@JoannesWeb frankly, I don't see why it should be a multiple of 2. yes, if it's an odd number, you will have one more slip stitch in every 4th row, but so what?
@JoannesWeb4 жыл бұрын
Multiple of 2. Instructions: Multiple of 2 This stitch requires 1 border stitch on each side. Row 1.- Knit Row 2.- (knit border stitch), *knit 1, pass 1 as if to purl* End with knit 1(border stitch). Row 3.- Knit Row 4.- (knit border stitch), *pass 1 as if to purl, knit 1* End with knit 1(border stitch).

I have a question. I'm still really knew at knitting. I can do the stitch just fine but I was curious... How do you measure the gauge for this? What really counts as a stitch and a row? My husband wants his scarf done in a specific way with a specific size for a specific costume use (From a video game) and I have no idea how to measure to make sure I get the right amount of yarn (I'll need a lot). So how do I measure the swatch?

Joanne please I need to ask you, I’m a relatively new knitter, only been a few months. I’m doing a sweater for my husband and I’m about halfway through the back panel. I did a lot the one day and I’m in a lot of pain around my pinky finger and down my wrist. My husband thinks I just worked a muscle I hadn’t worked before and I just need to let it heal and my muscle will get stronger. Does that sound right? Do you have anything you would suggest to help it? I love knitting and this makes me sad I wish you the very best. Hope to hear back soon
@JoannesWeb6 жыл бұрын
Yes, you did a lot in one day. Your husband is right! Try to pace the work at the beginning. I know we get eager to see it done, put enjoy the process. Try not to wet your hands immediately after knitting. They sell compression gloves for knitting at hobby shops. You might want to try them.

JoannesWeb try not to wet my hands? If I may ask, what does that do? I was thinking about a compression bandage. Knitting and crocheting has helped me a lot with depression and anxiety and I don’t want to give it up at all. I see you’re work and I’m just in awe of you 🙂❤️

Yes. We have several articles on our website as how knitting helps with our wellbeing. Absolutely true. Many therapists recommend knitting. As dar as your hands: The sudden change of temperatures is not good for the joints. Grandmothers used to tell us not to wash dishes after ironing. I have bad arthritis in my right thumb joint and the doctor told me the same. But, you know, it's one of those things...everyone believes what they wish.
