Interesting they mentioned Sir Christopher Frayling calling the duster a cowboys armour. He is such a Clint Eastwood fan that when he was Knighted he chose as his motto "PERGE SCELUS MIHI DIEM PERFICIAS", which can be translated as "Proceed, varlet, and let the day be rendered perfect for my benefit" ie "Go ahead punk make my day".

7:31 Very nice shot of the chain mail being made in Japanese style and not in the historical European style, which was (and is) a very common thing to do for prop mail armor because it films really, really well.

The Clint Eastwood duster must be worn by background extras when rented out. So it didn’t get a lot of wear.

5:15 Sorry Adam, while A Fistful of Dollars is the same plot of Yojimbo, A Few Dollars More is not the same plot as Sanjuro.
@davidlambert11708 күн бұрын
Scrolled down to see if anyone mentioned this. For a Few Dollars More is more indebted to Vera Cruz, The Bounty Hunter & The Bravados than Sanjuro. I'm certain Leone didn't want to get sued by Kurosawa again, haha

I’m big Westerns fan. I’ve seen My Name is Nobody many times since first seeing it as a kid. But somehow, I’m fairly certain anyway, I’ve never seen “The Good the Bad and the Ugly”. Still recignized this as a Clint Eastwood costume despite that. I have seen “A Fistful of Dollars”.

I’m not sure that just “freeze framing” the movie at various points and then looking at the garments is enough to say that they’re authentic. They seem to be in WAY too good of a condition to be 60 years old AND having been rented out to numerous movies in between.

I don't buy the trilogy, prequel claim as Eastwood did not bear the same character name in all three movies. Even though technically, Eastwood did portray all three characters with the same disposition. A Fist Full Of Dollars Joe A Few Dollars More Monco The Good The Bad And The Ugly Blondy

@Thomas_Esson12 күн бұрын
Or they'll return to market in a few years; happens a lot. Or loaned to museums, eventually donated, or either a museum itself or a generous benefactor could bid (most high-end props and costumes are still a drop in the bucket compared to the fine art world). But even black-hole collections are a double-edged sword; sales like these are largely responsible for prompting museums and - very gradually - the general public to finally see enduring value in this material.
@Redswipe12 күн бұрын
You have a very negative attitude. It's amazing they were so well preserved and are being shown publicly now on here. Be grateful for that instead of telling other people what they should do with their property.

@@Thomas_Esson I watched the good the bad the ugly in the remastered version many times. I assure you that Blondie's duster was exactly olive green! The easiest way to compare is by looking at his white beige hat.
@NamNguyen-zi6dn11 күн бұрын
That's right!
@Thomas_Esson11 күн бұрын
@@NamNguyen-zi6dn Are you a collector? Because on-screen color can be notoriously unreliable. Between lighting, film stock and color timing, costumes and props can easily be mistaken for a different hue than in reality, and there are many well-known examples of this.

Adam often has not just respect and admiration for these pieces but nuts and bolts institutional knowledge of how they may have been made. I want to see his reaction and his take on examining these pieces up close and in person. These videos are not just propstore ads - their value goes way beyond that in my opinion.
