Ayyy! Wedge armor is finally getting the recognition it deserves. People thought it was crazy until it started showing up in campaign craft. Damn kids don't want to eat their wedgetables. On another note, damage reduction from angle also applies to the blocks behind the slope unless there's an airgap in between, so you can have wedges backed by a wall of beams. Wedge armor also redirects HESH fragments sideways when it hits directly.

I actually have my own armor layout that I call the “plywood method.” Basically, what I do is place the metal so that horizontal beams are on the outer layer, while vertical beams are on the inner layer. It’s based on the Roman Scutum shield, which uses crossed planks of plywood to make it unable to be cut “along the grain.” An unintentional side effect is, when hit by a large torpedo, a disturbingly-circular hole is left in the hull. Looked pretty cool to see that air pockets save lives, though!

Negative Chief. This game is not optimized in that regard. Many of the physics calculations cannot be parallelized, and that means that until we get like 2x+ single thread performance the game will be just as poopy. given how powerful ERA is, I could see a lot of value in weapons designed to clear away ERA for heavier weapons - ie something like an extremely low caliber, high fire rate, relatively low accuracy thumper round, each shell of which will do nothing on hitting an ERA block but remove that block. Something like a frag gun whose shells detonate just short of the target would work a lot better b/c you could clear off multiple blocks per shell, but IDK if there's a way to make that happen reliably.

Detection systems are a giant pain in the butt to explain. Loved the video Borderwise! I can now strongly say that the next Carrier build will have 8 SH-60 Seahawk-like Helicopters, 8 E-2 Hawkeye-like Airborne Early Warning Aircraft, 12 F-4 Phantom 2-like Fighter-bombers, 12 F-8 Crusader-like Fighter-bombers, 12 A-6E Intruder-like bombers, and 12 A-7 Corsair 2-like Attack Aircraft. Armed with 12 single mount 127 millimeter (5 inch)/63 Caliber guns, 8 quad mount and 16-24 twin mount 40 millimeter Bofors, as well as 32 Sea Sparrow-like Missiles. Designed with the German "Turtledeck" Armor scheme, they have an overall length of 340 meters, a Beam of 80 meters and a draft/draught of 13 meters and a maximum speed of about 135 knots (155 miles per hour, 69.4 Meters per second) with Four Shafts, Four Steam Turbines. Also, more Replica build suggestions, this time my favorite classes of Battleships and Aircraft Carriers. Battleships: • New York-class (2 ships built, one preserved. Built with 5 twin 14 inch guns. originally from the First World War, they served throughout the second providing Naval Gunfire Support for Amphibious operations like Torch, D-Day, Dragoon, as well as Iwo Jima and Okinawa.) • Nevada-class (2 ships built. Both were at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese Attacked. Nevada was the only ship to have been raised, repaired and taken in hand, and continue her service with the U.S. Navy in The Second World War. 2 Twin and 2 Triple turrets) • Pennsylvania-class (2 ships built, Both were in Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack, Pennsylvania was the only ship to have been raised and repaired being in Dry dock at the time. Her sister Arizona was made into a memorial after the last few surviving crew members drowned when the U.S. Navy attempted to rescue them. Twelve14 inch guns in 4 Triple Turrets) • Maryland-class (3 ships built, First Battleships in the U.S. Navy built with 16 inch guns, albeit in 4 Twin mounts. Maryland and West Virginia were in Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack with Maryland taking moderate damage by two bomb hits and West Virginia sank in shallow water by six Torpedo hits.) • North Carolina-class (2 Ships built, First Modern Battleships in the U.S. Navy since the Preceding Maryland-class back in the 1920's with both ships commissioned shortly after the outbreak of the second world war in the Pacific. North Carolina is the only ship of the class preserved and can be seen at Wilmington, North Carolina. She spent most of the war alongside the USS Enterprise getting her baptism of fire in the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands. Funny thing though is that she had inadvertently helped the Mahan-class Destroyer USS Smith fight fires from a Torpedo Laden B5N2 "Kate" Torpedo Bomber that had Swan-dived right onto the little destroyers bow, just merely by being in front of the destroyer and so the captain of the Smith directed the ship's helmsman into the North Carolina's "Rooster Tails" or her sea spray as all the ships in the USS Enterprise's task force were moving at Flank Speed attempting to remain in formation while the Enterprise continued to steer hard right rudder as her steering gear had been jammed by a downed Val Dive Bomber or Zero Fighter. The ships had 3 Triple mount 16 inch/45 Caliber guns for a barrel length of 18 meters.) •South Dakota-class (4 ships built, same armament as the Preceding North Carolina-class. 2 ships are preserved, the USS Massachusetts at Battleship cove in Massachusetts, and the USS Alabama at Mobile, Alabama. They are the widest ships in the U.S. Navy, probably because they are a bit shorter in length compared to the North Carolina's, 680 feet versus 728 feet 9 inches respectively.) • Iowa-class (4 ships built, Last class of Battleships built for the U.S. Navy. Armed with 3 Triple mount 16 inch/50 Caliber guns for a barrel length of 20 meters. All four ships have seen service post-war in Korea, Vietnam, and the Persian gulf, and are now all preserved. USS Iowa at Los Angeles, California; New Jersey at Camden, New Jersey; USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and USS Wisconsin at Norfolk, Virginia.) Aircraft Carriers: •Lexington-class (2 ships built, albeit converted from Battlecruisers planned for the First World War. Lexington (CV-2) and Saratoga (CV-3). Lexington was lost at the Battle of the Coral Sea, Saratoga was used as a target for Operation Crossroads, the atomic bomb tests at Bikini atoll.) •Yorktown-class (3 ships built, Yorktown (CV-5), Enterprise (CV-6), and Hornet (CV-8), Yorktown was lost at the Battle of Midway, Hornet was lost at Santa Cruz, and Enterprise was Broken up/Scrapped in spite of Admiral William "Bull" Halsey's attempts to save her as a floating museum.) • USS Wasp (CV-7) (Built to make use of the remaining 14,700 tons displacement left by the Yorktown-class Aircraft Carriers. At 14,500 tons when completed, she had little to no armor at all. Not surprisingly, she was lost after Damage control efforts failed to contain fires from a spread of Torpedoes from Japanese submarine I-19 as the explosions destroyed the water mains and knocked out her power. Wasp was actually the Testbed for the "Deck edge" Aircraft Elevator featured in the Essex-class.) • Essex-class (24 ships built overall, 18 by 10 meter deck edge Aircraft Elevator on the port/left side which could be lowered to make more hangar space or raised to make more deck parking space. Continued to see service in Korea, Vietnam, and into the late-1980's, early-1990's with Lexington (CV-16) being Decommissioned in 1991. They even acted as recovery ships for the Space Program as well. 4 ships are preserved, USS Yorktown (CV-10) at Patriots Point, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina with the USS Laffey (DD-724); USS Intrepid (CV-11) at New York city, New York; USS Hornet (CV-12) at Alameda, California; and the USS Lexington (CV-16) at Corpus Christi Bay, Corpus Christi, Texas.) Independence-class (Light Aircraft Carrier, built on the hulls of Cleveland-class Light Cruisers. 9 ships built.) Casablanca-class (Escort Carriers, built on Liberty ship hulls. Most famous action was Taffy 3's at the Battle off Samar in the Battle of Leyte Gulf where 6 ships of the class, 3 Fletcher-class Destroyers and 4 John C. Butler-class Destroyer Escorts repulsed the Japanese Fleet with the Battleship Yamato.) I know this was a bit of a read, but I hope I've given you some possible ships to do a replica build of. Like I said in your "Building the USS Alaska #4" Stream/Vod PLEASE be sure to do your research on these ships, also here are conversion formulas for accurate speeds for the ships. 1 knot = 1.15 miles per hour 1 meter per second = 2.233333333 miles per hour Hopefully you can remember this for later! @LordDratsab
@LordDratsab 3 жыл бұрын
Kinetic railgun CIWS are much better than Flak if your budget and engines allow for it. However, the most important thing with Kinetic CIWS is accuracy. Do everything you can to increase accuracy (long, single barrel, no base bleeders). Even a small loss in accuracy will drastically reduce your DPS. I went overboard on my most recent ship and replaced the main guns with 125mm CIWSs and did a dual control system so it shoots at ships when there are no missiles or crams. It's the only setup I found that can handle huge missiles and huge torpedoes reliably.

@@LordDratsab The real questions are these: 1) how much AP is should I be shooting for? 2) how much damage should I be shooting for? 3) what is the minimum acceptable RPM 4) how much does the gauge matter and what would be optimal?
