Just to add to what Oskar said, if you run a 925 you can easily drop down to a 780 or 880. I would even argue a 680 because the stall speed with the high camber, but I do not have a 680 to confirm that. My go-to was the HS1250 for a long time. Surfy. Easy to pump. Loose. Impossible to stall. But a little slow and too front foot heavy. The HA725/925 surf amazing but can be tricky for newer foilers to connect. They’re also so high speed you can’t really just relax. The HA1125 you can relax and chill but it’s a slow dog to turn and carve. You can slow it down and keep pumping. And you can speed up. You cannot slow down on a 725. I have the 880 and you can just about stall it and pick it up back east. You can land your board on the surface 3 times in a row and still recover. You can carve it hard. You can get some good top speed and pump it at maximum speed. I’ve never been more excited about a Armstrong wing. The MA wings…. only if I had a jet ski or wing foiled.

Yeah boi, how good is it! 680 is just so nimble and fun... 580 even more so but you do loose some pump. The forever game of Pros/Cons

Oscar - thank you for sharing the stoke! Watching you ride these wives is absolutely magical. Need some advice on my next Armie HA foil. Currently, I ride HA925 with 195 tail red shim in Miami where summers tend to be on the lighter side, swells are typically between 2-5 ft unless we get some power storms like this weekend. I need to decide between HA780 or HA880 as replacement to my 925 and looking to buy only one front wing. I am about 175lbs and intermediate winger, interested only in wing surfing…no prone or sup foil. What would be your recommendation for a front wing? Any thoughts on glide and speed between 925 and 880? Thank you in advance!

The 880 is probably even overkill. The stall speed is so ridiculously low. I would honestly shoot for a 680 maybe 780. And if you need bigger then go for 880 or 980. I have an 880 and it’s easy to pump at slow speed like a 1125 if not easier. Less glide, but I’ll survive. And if you only wing, you may even prefer the MA wings. I absolutely hate the MA because all I do is surf. But everyone I know that wings LOVES the MA800 and MA1000. But if you surf the MA, expect to hate life

Another great review, I love your energy. I have the A+ mast not the new performance mast. Are these new HAs going to work as well on the older gear opposed to the newer stiffer performance masts? Cheers.

If you’re already riding the HA foils then I think these foils will actually work better. Span is ultimately the biggest issue with the old mast, more span means more leverage forces which means more flex. As these foils have a much lower stall speed you can size down which means less span compared to the old HAs

Your audio quality is way better than your in water videos from a long time ago. How did you do it? Also, props for always being able to talk at all while connecting waves. I would be panting way too hard 😅.

Yeah I’ve learnt a lot about the audio lately which is getting better. I am now using an audio isolator plugin from DaVinci Resolve. It cleans up the audio so much better!

Inspiring review Oskar! As I trust your knowledge and opinion, I have a couple of questions if I may: I have an HA1525/195 which I use for dockstarting and having great fun at that. I want to get into DW and surfing small to medium sized waves. No need for ripping in the pocket and bigger waves, I'll use my surfboards for that:). And I plan to keep the HA1525 and use it for small DW conditions. Could you recommend one HA wing which can be used for medium sized DW and carving small waves? I hope to get away with buying one wing $$$! My weight is 77 kg... What stab would you recommend? Glide 220 for DW/dock start and keep my HA195 for the surf? And a little bonus Q: Do you manage to dock start the new HAs? How does the HA1180 compare in lift/speed versus the "old" wings? Like the HA1325? Tack saa mycket!

Hej hej! Its a little tricky for my to compare to the 1525 or 1325 as I haven’t ridden these for such a long time. In my opinion the 880 is closer to the 1125 in terms of stall speed and lift than the 925. This makes me think the 1080 will likely have more lift than the 1325, and 1180 even more than the 1525. My guess would be at your weight to go for the 1080 to keep that low stall speed but still gain some more control and turning performance. As for the rear wing, the 220 will give you more pump and glide as well as lower stall speed, while the 195 will give you more speed and turning performance. I would start with the front wing and then if you want any more pump you could look at getting a tail wing too. Tak

Yes, exactly! Must more forgiving with the lower stall speed, but it won't have the top end of the HA925

Ohh that’s a good question. I would probably go for the 930DWP… those foils are just so efficient and can conserve energy really well.

It depends a bit about what I am doing. If I had one mast for everything then I would go for the 865, but I do like the 795 for small days when I am prone foiling. But for winging or towing then I love the 865.

What a bunch of subjective fluff. Why not give some objective data or use more technical terms? For example, if you are saying that It has a lower stall speed, tell us what lift coefficient it will produce before stalling. I hate the way you take liberty to make up terms to describe the performance of these foils. There are technical terms to describe how a foil performs.

I agree, it is all subjective which I can understand for someone who is knowledgeable on such values/terms may be frustrating. Also brands most definitley won't publish any of that data. However, for the vast majority of foilers, they are looking at how a foil feels and comparing them subjectivley. I answer a lot of questions every day and I can confirm you are the first person who has wanted to know the lift coefficient of a foil before stalling. This isn't my job and I don't get paid for these, so with the limited time I have to work on content I have to focus it on what the majority of people ask about and want to know, and in a way that uses terms that are popularly understood rather than scietifically scrutanised. I get the frustration, truely. But I also get the feeling I am just recieving your frustration with the industry and its direction, not your frustration directly with me... 🤔

Make people understand why the characteristics of a foil make it perform the way it does. Learn the proper terminology and teach others the proper terminology. When people are better able to communicate performance characteristics that will accelerate the improvement of the foils. For example, glide. What the hell is glide? I believe what you're really talking about is the lifted drag ratio (l/d) of the foil. It is well known what affects the lift to drag ratio of a foil. You should relate those parameters of the foil that affect the lift to drag ratio of the foil like the aspect ratio and the thickness to cord ratio. But people should understand what's compromises will be made if they go to higher aspect ratio.
