That is why running fouls are much better. If you foul on purpose in a losing position , the only way you gonna get a restart is to win that round. Its a much better system with no doubt. Yes, it needs some refinement but overall more fair and definitely more fun to watch. Something like a "red card" or "lost match" should be implemented for no sportsmanship behavior like when Auden hang on James´s arm even the match is stopped - no tolerance for crap like that - you lost the round . Period. On some matches too much freedom was given to athlete's in the setup - that was absolutely no fun and boring to watch. Stricter refereeing or stricter setup rules. Overall really nice event - cant wait to see the athlete's on EvW :)

you could have a referee warning system for people pulling their opponent off the pad too much. or other good examples might be when Revaz pulled vitaly aggressively, or when Devon held Daves arm post-round in their first match. you could have a warning - then extra foul - then lose point or something like that. but it would be up to the refs to decide. I struggle to see other ways of implementing a rule like that.

@bradreid60573 ай бұрын
Good review. Right on your point of view regarding purposeful elbow fouling and a need for rules here. And we have a sports precedent to consider. In boxing, one is not allowed to turn their back to an opponent to, in effect, avoid the fight or punches (which are illegal to the back of the head). The other is purposely and actively slipping out of a grip to go to straps. That's sort of analogous to a boxer purposely spitting a mouthpiece out to get a few minutes of rest. Arm-wrestling should always be primarily about pulling strapless by the way. If two opponents want to pull in straps and it is approved by the federation, and the event sponsor, do it that way or don't do it at all. These would be a few of MANY rules arm-wrestling needs to get ahead of. And there are so MANY. A sport can never let athletes extend the intended boundaries of the rules. The sport wasn't originally intended to include slipping and straps. It's almost as bad a bench shirts in powerlifting. Reel it in, clean it up.
