You should make note when giving specific amounts they're not accurate for everyone due to people having different amounts of taxes come out based on state, filing status, etc, also BAH with/without dependents.

My daughter is currently in basic training. Thank you for these vids. I will forward a few of your vids to her and she can watch the advice once she gets to a point she can watch them. You are correct, a few thousand can look like a lot of money to a young person. They don't really realize how quickly it can get burnt through if they aren't careful. Tori Capalot ASVAB isnt hard at all. Just focus on your main weak points. Reading , Math I believe there was even science portion. But no need to worry when you talk to a recruiter you’ll take a practice test and they will give you a website to study for a week or 2 and then you’ll take the real one you have 2-3 try’s to pass it before you have to wait like 4-6 months to take it again so don’t blow it.

It really depends on your company but some are pretty strict and some are really relaxed so it really just depends where you go. 1/4 of my company (about 100 soldiers) failed 68w AIT because of the NREMT so just look up an app and pay and study everyday and you’ll be way ahead of the curve. Also downtown is beautiful and you should definitely explore San Antonio. Also one more things whiskey school can be hard if you’re not too with your hands so look up ISVs on KZbin and you’ll be golden. BEWARE OF THE NP

I don't think you had an option to refuse the Eagle Card $300 at Basic. I had my own spare cash. I used $50 for AAFES during OSUT. Then at the end, you had to fill something out and you could get whatever you didn't use returned in your next LES.

Holy crap you guys make a lot of $$ now! I went into the Army in 1990 as a fresh E-1 and started out at $669 per month. My garsh that was pretty border-line poverty level back then, but we always had free room/board so there is that, and it was nice. At least it got better though with the automatic ranks. Started receiving $724 after 4 months in. $1007 was what I stopped at, as I was only in for 3 years & of course an E-4 from auto-promotions. I do remember that they gave us an advance on our "pay" when we were a little bit into "basic training", so we could buy necesities/toiletry stuff. I forget how much it was, but I want to say it was like $100, which, was a ton of money to probably all of us back then, as it is now for them now ha ha. I remember having to also do a silly thing where we had to "REPORTING FOR PAY, SIR", to the CO, that must have been during AIT (or whatever they call school/training now). Sorry for the little reminissing rant lol

I received a check in the mail for like $700 each month (while I was in school) after sending something in to verify I was still in college. It paid my rent, but nothing else. Basically. Nope, was a flat amount they sent each month while I was in college. Which was about the amount of rent and that was it (was 23 at the time, so I got my own apartment off campus. Can't imagine what bills would have been had I stayed on campus). Still had to get student loans etc...Plus of course cause everything was still paper back then, I didn't receive each check until between the 10th and 15th, which sucked because I had to borrow money again, from my parents a couple times to cover rent until my fricken check came.

If you go in married or have child dependent you can get bah , dependency pay , and family separation pay… The numbers go up drastically because you also get paid for ait school … I’ll be walking out with 18k gross .. and most of it ain’t taxed since only my base income pay is taxed ..
