I'm with ya. I would do it all again. Fort Benning 2006. The hardest and most fun thing I have ever done. It's oddly hard and satisfying at the sand time.

I am 66 years old and enlisted in '72. I am NOT a military person at all, but felt compelled to enlisted and serve. Although I was miserable, I will always appreciate Basic Training and will never regret having joined. It is too bad that there is not a program for high school grads to simply go through just Basic Training as a rite of passage. I have often encountered difficulties in life and thought to myself, if you made through basic, you can get through this. Thank you for this!

Prior service here. These men and women worked their ASSES off to get to this point. They put in blood, sweat and tears to get to this point and all you new kids enlisting will too. It's gonna suck. Its gonna hurt and your gonna hate it BUT it's worth it. I did it one meal to the next. Not one day at a time, one meal. One foot in front of the other and BELIEVE quiting isn't an option and you'll make it. Matt I like your videos man but your bring way to damn soft bro. This shit isn't easy bro and we both know it. I went in in oust (I was infantry) 08 Charlie company 1/50th fort benning and I got smoked cause it snowed in Georgia and I'm from Colorado. Drill sergeant blamed me for that shit. So quit sugar coating this bro. It's hard. It hurts but it's the most meaningful thing you'll ever do.

Basic in 2010 was BY FAR my best experience in the army. I miss it. Was a new adventure every single day. I wish I could do it once a year for the rest of my life. The moment you finish you long ruck on week 9 and you get no sleep. You all get back and then as a battalion are all put together and told you're now a US soldier was one of the best feeling accomplishments I've felt. Not knowing what was next and the feeling of not only making it but making it in a badass style was acting sgt the entire time. Was the one who shot expert so got to shoot the actual at-4 round. Having my 40 meter grouping picture (literally a dime sized hole) posted for the following years to come was awesome. I miss this

I never served , the draft for Vietnam ended just before My older Brother was due to be drafted. One of My Sons served in Iraq as a paramedic and after becoming a Special Forces “Doc” made that His career . He said that while detached to the reconstituted Iraqi forces, having mother’s bring their sick kids out to Him to be treated after hiding( He said the streets would be like ghost towns , deserted) that made Him appreciate His purpose there.
