Great outdoor review on the trail, more realistic. My favorite part was when you put the freeze dried coffee granules in your mouth and washed it down with a swig of water. I'm surprised you didn't add the salt packet to make the expired Flameless Ration Heater work better. I like that you packed all the trash in the MRE bag and carried it out like soldiers do to leave no trace for the enemy.

What a good sport your wife is, not to mention a good sense of humour.

Definately do more on the trail. Brings tools but more importantly, bring your wife. Always great to see couples enjoying the outdoors together.

This format is excellent! Shows just how robust and useful a particular MRE package can be. Also, the flavors tend to change when hunger in the wild sets in. Fantastic video with your wife. Keep up the good work!

The chili was one of my favorites when I was in. My absolute favorite is the elusive menu 24 meatloaf with mashed potatoes, hard to find but a gem. Thanks for sharing your trip!

Bring a mess kit and some means to boil stuff in the pouch or can or get yourself a Barocook to heat stuff with including water in a bag and thank Dad Budget Adventures if you do. I do like the format and that you bring your wife along as well. Extra opinion on it plus the dynamic can be entertaining.

The Barocook is a heating receptacle that takes these big beefy FRH pads and it gets hot AF for a goodly amount of time.

Carrying a basic bug out bag will go a long way for you, also I’d rely on a newer ration just to be safe. From a former Calvary Scout.

I wonder why the US military prioritizes shelf life of these field rations to such an extreme? That makes them so gross compared to other countries rations. The few times I ate an MRE in the army they were almost new. The military is not holding on to 10 year old MREs. I think individuals buying them on the resale market as novelties are the only people eating them so old.

Always bring a water filter. Constantly complaining about the lack of water while sitting next to a creek just seems idiotic.
@ReadinessRations2 ай бұрын
If we were backpacking I would have one. It was just a day hike though so we only brought along the minimum. There was plenty of water back at the car.
