thats no bug that kills all computer hardware in existence, its just because its a game with lots of complex mechanics and if you dont set limits in game to how much of every contributing factor you want then the game will happily attempt to simulate 5 million animals while your cpu goes up in flames. granted some other issues like bad usage of multi threadding and optimisation on how to handle the tasks probably contributes together with other factors but the main reason why even with a perfect code it would still happen is that the game has no limits if you dont set any and will run crazy if you let it happen. same reason why every other game has a population cap that dictates how many living creatures can be on the map at the same time to avoid grilling your pc.

It's not bacteria that makes alcohol. Yeast is a fungus. You possibly can make mushrooms in to wine, so long as you have some way to break the mushroom down into sugars. For plants, amylase enzyme is present in sprouted seeds and breaks the complex starches into simple sugars the yeast can consume. If you have a particularly starchy mushroom and a source of amylase, it would be doable.

16:00 The population is around 50-100. 50 if you control who is mating with you and you explect at lest 4 to 7 kids to come out of a pairing. You would basically have to tell people who they are matched with and control so many rights to work. 100 would be better but not perfect. The main goal would be for people to have as many kids as possible to let the kids get enough population so by 4th gen they are at a low risk of naturally keeping it in the family. the 2nd gen would be the main problem of in breeding tbh.
@boomknight10152 жыл бұрын
If you start with 7 people. 3/4 male to female split would be best. Then each female would have to have at lest 8 or more living kids. Other wise there wont be enough population to spread out the gens. Also in breeding will happen. How ever 3rd cousins are better then first cousins. Even in the USA 2nd is legal how ever you would be aiming for 3 and you would get kicked from the group if you refused to have kids. Where at 50ish you could easily stay to help do tasks even if you refuse to have kids at all. With it not being as important if males refused.

Yup. It isn't overworking your PC because of errors. (Not that there aren't errors from time to time.) It's because the game tries to simulate so much of its universe that things can get out of control - and cats happen to be a lifeform that due to life cycle, being able to easily survive in a dwarf home, and breeding rate, can easily get out of control. This is actually something that's become counterintuitive, due to decades of people working out ways to cheat realistic-looking graphics and physics and embedding their results into computer infrastructure. We simultaneously overestimate how powerful the computer systems are and underestimate how complex what we're trying to do is. Just by taking a decent stab at trying to keep track of things like fluid mechanics and tissue layers, Dwarf Fortress starts doing far more work to update its universe than most games would attempt.

Yeah, as others have said, the starting seven dwarves are basically scouts/forward outpost operatives. They're there just to get the basics going. Within the first year, many more migrants arrive, you play as part of an already existing civilization, not starting your own. But, to be fair, it is true that inbreeding would be very likely in a closed off fortress. I mean, just look at Archcrystal. Your fort isn't automatically considered part of your parent civilization tho. I'm pretty sure this is only done to prevent civil war from happening rather than any other reason. In DF, civil wars are not what you would think, they're technically a bug. It's a civilization fighting itself, as far as the game is concerned it's equivalent to someone stabbing themselves in the stomach. Dwarven villagers will pillage their own hamlets, for instance (not completely sure if that one is accurate, been a while since I've looked into it and I've actually never seen a civil war in world generation, that example comes from memory of what others have said about so I might be wrong). I assume your outpost isn't considered part of your civ to begin with so that it leaves you the option of being hostile to them for whatever reason you may have (roleplaying isolationist cult, for instance), and avoid starting a civil war.

bad takes in cults this video i thing set refer to it like a cannon in thelitterary sense, but that aside, i would like to see more remakes of your first videos, i love the real world pararels u make with things that only are put in videos as a gag and how you expand on it with truly interesting comentary or annecdotes
