I would really like to see a side by side comparison of makeup brushes, these brushes and Artis opus drybrushes. I used to use cheap flat craft brushes for dry brushing, but I picked these up from my FLGS the other day and they've been amazing. I do wonder what the difference is between these and the Artis Opus brushes with the dampening pad.

I actually just received a cheap pack of makeup brushes from Amazon. I think for basing (basically sandpaper tearing brushes apart) they'll be good. But I don't think I am ready for the Artis opus series d or whatever, until I see them used by someone like me.

I'm late but... I don't really understand your comparison regarding the boat industry. AFAIK you use the anodes to control where the corrosion happens. Thus you place parts of zinc so that the galvanic corrosion is under control and doesn't corrode other parts of the ship, only those anodes that are there for this particular reason. Nothing to do with mold.

I've found an unfortunate "feature" in Army Painter's brushes: water gets in from the top of the fuller, soaks the crappy wood handles and makes them snap the next time you take the protective cap off. So, if you get any, make sure to put some waterproofing at the top of the fuller. But if you don't, hey, at least you'll get good handles for pinning stuff on at some point!

As the entire comment section pointed out, the idea in question has been out there for ages, Artis Opus are just the first people to try marketing makeup brushes to the minipainting audience. If these aren't $80 like AO I'm all for it, spent too much time looking for appropriate (and cheap) makeup brushes. Just hope they find their way to the LGS, few businesses here in Russia reliably stock Army Painter.
