awesome. I really like your tutorials man. There isn't a lot of good tutorials out there with the style you use, and it's very easy to follow along.

You mention tinning the color a few times. Its important for people to know that you have to thin speedpaint with their speedpaint medium. Thinning with water will make them not work properly. Even a wet brush can affect it. I wonder if the Davion Green failed simply due to not applying enough and then futzing with it. I've always had smooth results applying mine with fewer strokes and regularly loading my brush, only going back to wick away bad pooling. But also like you say, I'm sure a smooth primer goes a long way.

I probably could have been more clear and stated that the speedpaint medium should be the first option for thinning over adding any water. I can say with confidence I've used a loaded brush full or single drop of water added to a decent amount of speedpaint and had zero issues with it performing as expected on several models. As for the camo cloak/Davion green, I think the application method contributed to the result since I had no problem with it before on other models but when I complete a Davion Green tutorial I'll have an answer on avoiding the splotchy drying issue.

Quick question: When are you gonna do a tutorial on SpeedPainting cockpits that you've planned in the last video? Nevertheless I don't have the BT Speedpaint set but, I do have several Army Painter Speed Paints that I could try :) Great tutorial though, I'll try them out when I get a chance. :)

Hi thanks for the Battletech videos. There is tons out there now about painting miniatures but not so much about 'Mechs. I appreciate the content. Painting an Orc or a Mech require a different set of ideas and approaches.

We dont get this BT specific paint set here in Norway. Its not absolutely needed but love the BT theme. I did however get the Army Painter most wanted 2.0 set and have primed some vallerjo white on my mechs. AfaIk you dont full even prime coating, just enough to cover any naked plastic parts. Planning on making my own Merc FRR/ Rasalhague Dominion loyal Lance with dark blue with yellow+ red stripes. RedYellowBlue. Since one or more of those primary colors represented in all nordic countries. I add silver to the weapon barrels but leave any energy weapon points color agnostic with light grey. Custom loadout for mechs. If say I wanted a ppc instead of large laser etc.

@ 4:00 Maybe it's just the lightning and KZbin altering the image some, but the left mech doesn't even look that bad. It's almost like a very simple grassy camo scheme ready to go

Hello B1BFlyer! would you make a video detailing how you prep the catalyst minis? I have been having issues cleaning them up. Thanks!!

I really just use warm water, a toothbrush and dish soap or ammonia glass cleaner. If I can do a quick one that’s what I’ll show.

I've been doing a lot of brush on primer recently and I've found that if I do a layer of grey primer before I finish with white primer, then the white primer comes out better

One thing to add: different primers react differently with different paints. Yeah, we all know that. However I found in my "experiments" that Vallejo primers are somewhat problematic with Army Painter Speedpaints. They're too slippery and slick and the paint flows a little too much on them. Unsurprisingly Army Painter primers work better, holding the paint in place and giving it better saturation. I need to test Citadel, AK Interactive and Scale75 primers as well to find out how they'll react. Generally the more matte primer, the better and Vallejo's are more satin if not in finish, then in feel at least.

did you use white primer on the whole Orloff Phoenix Hawk or a white on top and grey on bottom?
@CamoSpecsOnline

It was white primer over the entire model with Orc Skin on top and Camo Cloak on the bottom.

Do you happen to have a video or guide on painting Taurian Guard or any interest in doing so? Trying to avoid the hot dog look but keeping true to the color scheme.
@CamoSpecsOnline
@CamoSpecsOnline Жыл бұрын
We don’t have any Taurian content….yet but for the guard I’d suggest limiting the red and gold and go for darker tones to avoid the ketchup and mustard look that can happen with brighter colors.

To a degree they do but not to the level a lot of us would want, especially with that brush on primer included by Army Painter.
