Fantastic conversation. I work with a PT who was involved in the battle of Shok Valley as a CCT. You'd never know because he doesn't talk about it but it amazed me to discover that sometimes the guy working next to you is a living, breathing hero. Worked with another young man who is a former PJ who was involved in the rescue of the soccer team in Thailand. He's in PT school now. He'd show up for work every morning and within 15 minutes everyone in the room was laughing and energized. Take one of these guys and put in them in any community, any organization, and things are going to get better. They lead by example and work their asses off. Most importantly they inspire all of use to do more and be more active in our communities. I'm glad you guys are bringing this kind of content to the world. We don't need fiction. The truth is way, way cooler. You have my respect and my thanks :)

Retired (Ret@rd?) Also when I was a cadet got to take a summer 2.5 week course through USAFA put on by 10th SFG at Fort Carson which kicked my ass but honestly gave me so much confidence that when I was a JET-IA (joint expeditionary tasking - individual aungmentee) assigned to an Army unit in Kabul that I had Marines feel comfortable going outside the wire with me (they told me so… or were just feeding my big ego 😉🤣)… so thanks to you SF guys! As a retired Green Beret with 19 years in SF, I'm sick of seeing other SOF elements being compared to SF. There is no comparison. Most SF candidates are not 18Xrays, and we dont recruit from basic training and OCS like SEALs. The average Green Beret is 32 years old, married with kids. And, unlike any other SOF, every Green Beret must learn a foreign language. The 18X who's only experience in SF was combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan have had to learn the other 95% of what SF does. The TACPs attached to our teams in combat were often the most valuable asset, particularly during the initial invasion of Iraq.
@cdj852019 күн бұрын
Not true, as of July 2024, the commanding general of SWCS has openly said that 18X candidates make up over 50% of the Special Forces Regiment. They are the MAJORITY of all Special Forces soldiers. A good video about how enablers work, there’s so much stuff out there about “PJ’s vs SEALS” JTAC’s vs Rangers” and people do not actually realize what an enabler’s task and purpose is. While PJ’s JTACS, TACP’s are all incredibly impressive dudes, these are not shoot, move, communicate jobs that work in a team like typical Army/navy SOF units. If you had ten seals/rangers/SF going up against ten AIrforce SOF, you’d end up with ten dead Airforce SOF dudes, because that’s simply not how these units operate. There are not teams of JTACS and PJS’s kicking in doors and running isometric operation with airforce pure. They enable other SOF units to do their jobs

@spudbeans22 "Special Operations" is not a unit. It's a term used to refer to every single cool guy unit you know of that falls under SOCOM, which includes the Special Forces. You might be getting a bit to into the weeds. People make this way more complicated than it needs to be. Special Forces are called Special Forces for the same reason SEALs and Rangers are called SEALs and Rangers. It's the actual name of the unit. 1st Special Forces Regiment or 75th Ranger Regiment or Marine Raider Regiment. It has nothing to do with being Special operations or the mission they conduct. Special Forces do conduct a unique mission but that missions is called unconventional warfare and it is a Special operation. It's just a Special operations that only the Special Forces conduct. Just like only Navy SEALs conduct SDV operations.
