Arn has talked about leaving the WWF before on DVD's saying they treated him well, but he had a kid at home crying saying daddy when you're coming home, and it drove him nuts. He never revealed all of this money stuff, and how devious Vince was by upping his pay before he left. I'm glad that he no longer works for WWE, and knows he will never work for them again, so he can finally tell us the whole truth.

I'm tempted to hazard a guess that the reason everyone's money was down in the fall of 1989 was due to the performance of "No Holds Barred" at the box office over the summer. "No Holds Barred" was the first WWE film and thus WWE clearly had money invested in it. According to wiki, McMahon did not make a profit on the film but also did not suffer a loss basically breaking even when all was said and done. But I'm wondering with the funds that WWE had tied up in this film and the fact that it didn't turn a profit if that adversely affected the bottom line for the boys in the fourth quarter of 1989?

@josephdelledonne2098

Muta would have been a great face. Obviously, no one saw Sting getting hurt, but he could have filled in for Sting against Flair. Luger and Flair were great, but it had already been done, and did nothing but make Lex look like a choker. You could have Muta feud with Flair, saying that he doesn't like Sting, but what Flair did was cowardly, and he was coming after Flair for what he did because he has no honor; Sting, who he hates, but respects at least is a man. Muta and Flair could have torn the house down, and Muta with his moves is perfect as a face, and fans loved him anyways because of those moves.

It's interesting, in the shoot Ric did back 10 years ago, he stated that it was him who told Jim Herd he had a problem bringing Tully back. Apparently because they were going to pay Tully more than Arn. Ric told Herd he'd leave if they did that, and they both needed to be paid the same money. Then all of a sudden they didn't want Tully anymore and they cut Arn's pay too. It seems Ric played a huge part in this whole thing?

Ric says that they were going to bring Tully back around six months after they’d brought Arn back solo and cut his pay. And he asked what they were going to pay Tully and he says that they were going to pay Tully $150K more than Arn and that he pushed back on it saying that they needed to pay them the same and that it wasn’t fair to Arn to slash his money because of Tully but then bring Tully back and pay him what he was originally going to make while Arn is still stuck with the pay cut.

I hated the Future Shock round-robin tournament format for Starrcade. They should have done that for a separate event other than Starrcade. That and the holding Battlebowl during Starrcade a couple of years later ruined Starrcade for me. And when you consider that the whole tournament was to put Sting as number one contender opposing Flair, I feel that it could have been done better and more efficiently any other way. I also would have liked to have seen Funk vs Flair's I-Quit match saved for Starrcade '89 and not held free on the Clash of Champions a month earlier.

After listening to Grilling JR today,it all makes sense now. McMahon was so insulted by Tully and Arn giving him an ultimatum that he reached out to Jim Herd (a former employee of his father) and convinced him that Tully had failed a drug test so bad that he was basically sending damaged goods back to WCW. By doing this Vince knew he’d decrease their value and ultimately they’d HAVE to take whatever WCW offered them. McMahon said if u dont wanna work for him,you’ll take crumbs to work elsewhere.

There were double and triple standards regarding drug tests. Some of the Stars were given a second chance after failing a drug test for coke or steroids, while others were fired immediately. It was called selective justice. Herd could have hired Arn and waited an additional 30 days to bring Tully back. The angle would have been the Horsemen are reuniting, slowly but surely. WCW can't pay the top talent a fair salary but WCW always had funds for Rock Groups & Movie Stars. Keep in mind, Herd was the brilliant mastermind behind the Ding Dongs - bet they had heat backstage! Nothing against Richard & Greg. I always wondered if Heard was on Vinny's payroll?

Yep! I agree with your final statement totally. Its been said that Herd openly wanted to be WWF Lite and loved McMahon’s outlandish gimmick style. I would not be surprised if he was hired to bury the competition from within. All of his ideas werent just bad,they were just completely disastrous and illogical...like they were suggested intentionally.

Jim Herd was placed in charge of WCW (initially) BECAUSE with the exception of Ted Turner NO ONE in Turner Broadcasting (both) understood the ratings popularity in wrestling and that "wrestlers" could operate ANY business. In that aspect the wrestlers in that committee should have said to TBS and even Herd "tell that to pro sports managers" whom grew and groomed from positions they worked on the team.

Gary Hart blames Ric Flair for the Great Muta being booked to lose three times at Starrcade 1989. There was an iron man tournament format With Sting/Lugar/Flair/Muta. Muta (on a major winning streak previously) lost every single tournament match he was in. After that, they had Muta lose the TV title to Arn Anderson. Soon after, Muta left WCW and went to Japan where his career really took off.
@60BloodyChamp60
@60BloodyChamp60 3 жыл бұрын
That’s unfair to judge it that way. WCW was vital to Muta’s success. He got to mix it up with everybody from jobbers to main eventers, and his time there for that year was a foundation that was gone back to for the rest of his career. He ended up being THE Japan guy in WCW. When he showed up, it was on. He jump started NWO Japan in WCW to, which was a big deal.

I dnt get Scott Hall’s logic about ret Hart. Like Arn said,as the Champion...YOU WERE THE TOP GUY. Meaning anything WWF promoted & related,you’re on. They cant make merch,a video game,anything for profit without you on it. And Bret cared so little about money he left Vince after 10yrs to get to WCW because of the money. This was the era where being the champion put you at the top of the food chain.
@handsolo1209
@handsolo1209 4 жыл бұрын
They mocked Bret because he would rather get $250K and have the belt than get $400K and drop the belt. The boys wanted a pay rise, but because Bret was happy with his salary, Vince could just say "Bret is the champ and he is happy, and I can't pay you guys more than him", so his acceptance of a lower salary for a fake title screwed the whole roster out of more money.

Love Arn but let’s be real for a minute. This is example number 1000 of the ole rassler complaining about booking all his life until he went to the WWF. Then he makes it to the WWF where like it or not that booking was spotless. People lost and won clean 99.9% of the time. Then they immediately complained about money. Then they went back to WCW or Crockett and complained about the booking.

I don't know how the Hell Vince let these 2 part of the Horsemen just walk over $50,000 and then just pay Arn triple that in his last 2 Month's where he made more Money then he ever made in his whole Career. That shows Vince was a real asshole Piece of Shit who loved messing with people. But it looks like he probably just wanted to keep Arn Anderson that's why he paid him and suspended Tully. It all makes sense now and if you think about it I guarantee you Tully Blanchard is the one who ratted out to the FBI about the WWF and the Wrestler's being in Steroids and in all kinds of Drugs cuz you know it was an insider that supplied all that information the the FBI and the Government. Think about it cuz that was it that Cocaine drug test failure was the End of his Career which makes No feeling sense when the Guy was in his prime mid 30s one of the best in ring worker's HBKs Shawn Michael's Favorite Wrestler's who could also cut one Hell of a promo. And he was a great heel and I lived him as TV Champ and US Champ in the NWA. But Vince gets too much credit cuz that child molester Rapist Pat Patterson is the one who came up with almost every single idea that's made WWF/WWE into a house hold Name. He's the one who named all the Pay Per Views kinda like Dusty in NWA/WCW. Like the Royal Rumble to right off Bunkhouse Stampede Vince said that's the stupid shit he ever heard cuz it is as a Battle Royal. But to have it as a Main Event but the twist of having it start with 2 Guts then every 2 minutes another Wrestler joins the party was an is The Greatest Match in the WWF God I hate that freaking name WWE I still pray like old Stone Cold who still talks about it to this day his much he hates the WWE Name and it will always be WWF to him and sane with Hulk Hogan and HBK and same with me. I read like 2 years but even that the WWE can actually go back to using there old WWF Name which diehard Fans would due for and it would bring back old Fans from the 1980s and 1990s. Cuz that World Wild life fund tax added to it's Name and it no longer goes by WWF for Short it's something else now. And they said Vince McMahon and WWE doesn't want the Fans to know so they don't start petitions for them to change there Name back to The WWF. Cuz they said back when they changed it you young Fans may not know this but Vince and his Lawyer's could of probably Won in Court to use and have the right to the WWF acronym which is really a freaking joke. Nobody I mean nobody I this Damn world should be able to own a letter or letters or words for that matter and names & where you go to Far is owning acronym's. It's Bullshit God created all letter's in the alphabet and words and name of all things. So we use them as almost like in Music already self made beats you know and we just writing our own Words to it but the same beats, music are used a Million times Over. But Vince didn't even put up a fight which many don't know but in front of the Camera's he says we will fight them till the end but behind the scenes he was Happy as he finally had a reason to change the Company name to get the word Wrestling out of the name. And he felt it held them down cuz I case you don't know Vince McMahon he hates the Word Wrestling you even hear say it to Stone Cold on the network when he was in the Stone Cold Podcast. When Stone Cold said I was a Wrestler now it's all this entertainment and Vince kind had a hissy fit. No we are not a Wrestling Company and you were not just a Wrestler you were an Entertainer. I saw you Stone Cold play a 🎸 on Raw on TV and Sing horribly i might add but doing it all in Comedy bits, Comedy sketchsband a lot of other crap. Cuz he wanted to make Movies which is Cool and I'f I worked for WWE Fans and even Non Wrestling Fsbs would be tuned into the Network 24/7. I already said Vince did more original shit when he was on USA and regular TV snd now you got your own Network and everyone is watching TV on the internet streaming all that. Like Utube with the Karate series which is freaking badass series let me tell you and they swear it's like HBO and shit and when I'm paying the money I'm paying for the Network that's how it should be and when it's for your kids to watch you just put in a parent's pin number to block all the rated R and just show PG stuff. But all the old school Undertaker venettes of him building the Caskets where scary as Hell as a Kid and the Funeral parlor. I said a million times they made 2 movie's with Kane how much Money do you think they lost out on not making Movies with the Old Undertaker Character the Western Undertaker Character he played. And through the 1990s they could if made do many great movies and the early 1990s you remember all the great cheesy horror movies and series which they could if made movies and series eith the Undertaker which they should be making today as he's basically retired. I already said bring Back WWF Saturday Night's Main Event or Shotgun Saturday Night : hold it in the Subways and little Bars like they did which was such a Cool badass new feeling to the Wrestling Business then. And the classic WCW Saturday Night. And I would do every Week on Saturdays and Sundays Brand New Movie's that would premier which like all the Movie's they make that 99% go straight to DVD those should go straight to the Network for subscribers it would make non Wrestling fans watch and even get into wrestling as well. And all the Movie's they have made during the Week Monday's the New Live Stone Cold Show and Austin is the Greatest interviewer out there which is crazy. And then on Evey day you take a break from Wrestling and play WWF & WWE Movies during the Week Tuesdays, Wednesday and Throw Back Thursday No Holds Barred Starring Hulk Hogan all the old Wrestling Movies they made & all the old and current Movie's that WWE Studios have made up till 2019. Also air The Rocky Movie's, Rambo, Cobra, Over the Top, Expendables as they have a great relationship with Sylvester Stallone & Schwarzenegger, Terminator, True Lies, Predator & so on. Then like the Big Show is Starring his own Comedy Show on Netflix where he's a single Dad with 3 Kids & Steve Urkel is his side kick. Netflix is a joke it's only in the World to push it's Gay faggot agenda to mess with young kids heads & mess up what's left of this weak minded world. But WWE Network is just like Netflix but what I'm saying is you don't need to air just wrestling shit. If Big Show is Starring in a New series ask yourself why ain't it on The WWE Network which would get huge buzz cuz Steve Urkel the kid who plays him I'd gonna be in it that would give huge mainstream media & Great News to them. Why that series of going in 6-7 years why that series or a shit load of new series starting in 2020 ain't starting on The WWE Network is cuz all the dumb bastard's they have Working & running the network are freaking idiot's. Instead of hiring Eric Bischoff for SmackDown which lasted 2 Weeks & he works with that Harvey kid from The Wonder Year's in creating New TV series & shows and pitching it to Networks. They should hire him & the other kid & sone other's as President & Vice President of WWE Network. Just like WWE Cartoons which you notice these idiots can't even make them last over one Season but keep giving camp WWE & the story time is a great one sith the real Wrestler's telling there story's. And bring back the old Cartoons & New one's on the Saturday and Sunday Morning Block where I remember as a kid watching the Ninja turtles in the morning which they have done movies with them. That should give on the network along with the Jetsons the Flintstones cuz I got kid's who would love that and shit I watch it along with my kids to spend time with my kids like a Father should. But I'm telling you I would that Network in 2 Year's have over 7 Million Subscribes.
