Back in the day when the NWA Champ came to town, Gordon Solie would say "Championship prices are in effect". When Andre the Giant came to town, he received a "Special prices are in effect" clause.

I got to see Andre in Fayetteville NC on a Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling show ( Jim Crockett Promotions). He teamed with Jimmy Valiant and Bugsy McGraw vs One Man Gang and two other guys. Andre's team won. I miss all territories. Great times.

I remember watching this in 1992.

Despite how hard it was for Andre to travel, it was certainly the best way to book the Giant. He could tour the territories, Japan, Mexico, and Europe, and still stay fresh in the WWWF when he returned. Big Show would have benefited from that, if they had limited his exposure and not had him beat by everyone. I know the territories were pretty much gone, but trips to Japan and the developmental territories certainly would have helped, and boosted ticket sales there, if he had the mystique of Andre.

I'm confused, because TBS started in 1976. I don't know what year exactly they started hosting wrestling shows since I was 2 at the time, but even if they started in 1976 it would have been only 16 years of wrestling by 1992.

I believe TBS started in the late 1960s as Free Local TV. I am not exactly sure when TBS converted to cable, but it would probably be in the mid-70s.

Super station WGN was a free chicago national television that broadcast cubs games nation wide for decades than the asshole cubs owners need that and made fans subscribe to a package in order to watch cubs games.

@@ddwchampso Jim Crockett Promotions and WCW were original TBS programming then. No wonder Ted Turner loved WCW.

Wrong! Arn and Bobby were all set to get a push as ' the Dad Bods' until Flair complained about ' horseman legacy' crap to Vinny Mac. What a freaking diva 😂😂😂😂

@@chadk890 little known trivia...also, Tully and Arn started out as ' the Dad Bods' in mid- south in 1978. They were supposed to be a pre horsemen group with Barry Windham and his Dad. But freaking Cornette nixed the whole thing before their push. Something about ' HULKSTER ' doll sales getting hurt in the 80s, Rock and Wrestling...that's why Ricky Morton got his push...Cornette and Vinny Mac knew the mullet was going to be huge in the early 80s. Cornette discovered Morton in the 7-11 parking lot on Main Street. He just knew Morton was going to be a big star. Especially after Morton screwed up a bulldog on Ric Flair in '82 and broke his nose...so anyway, that's why ' the Dad Bods' got nixed. Vinny Mac knew it wouldn't fit with his planned ' steroid era' . Verne is still pissed about Hogan leaving...🤣🤣🤣
