The local express train between Arnhem in The Netherlands and Düsseldorf in Germany via Emmerich, Oberhausen & Duisburg is a great local connection and addition on the (especially in the summer time very busy) long distance trains on this route. Besides that, the price for this train might be lower for most journeys. Beste Trainviking, wat een moie video en goed uitgelegd. Ik hou ook veel van treinreizen want ik heb geen wwagen. Ik ga zeker eens de treinreis doen naar Düsseldorf maar dan ga ik wel overnachten in Arnhem want ik woon in Antwerpen, groetjes

Mei 2023...stationsgebouw Emmerich am Rhein heringericht...winkeltje al dicht dec.2022. Hopelijk betere invulling zomer najaar 2023. Goede video...grensoverschrijdend. Koppeling met trein uit Bocholt in station Wesel is ook aanrader.

Toevallig zag ik vorig weekend dat er in Emmerich flinke verbouwingen waren inderdaad. De koppeling uit Bochholt kan inderdaad leuk zijn voor een toekomstige video.

Nice video! Last year I took this train to go from Arnhem Centraal to Emmerich using my OV chipkaart. It was possible, but there was no ticket scanner machine at Emmerich at that time, so I told the train driver and he said that I had to check out and in at Zevenaar.

Vorig jaar had ik de regio trein van Duisburg naar Arnhem tijdens het hoogseizoen, het was vreselijk treintje was niet berekend op de drukte. Met de reservering plicht ICE voor interrailers zal het niet anders zijn.

Het kan inderdaad enorm druk zijn. Vorig jaar hadden we ook het € 9,- ticket wat deze trein nog laagdrempeliger heeft gemaakt. Dit jaar is de drempel wel iets hoger gelukkig. Maar juist met de reserveringsplicht voor de ICE wilde ik deze video wel vlak voor de zomer plaatsen.

Ik vind Arnhem een prachtig station en dan vooral om in de stationhal te staan en te kijken hoe het in elkaar zit, een prachtig werkje. Wat betreft het gebruik vind ik het nog steeds een doolhofachtig iets. Zoals de BurgerKing. Die tent valt wel te zien wanneer je uitcheckt maar zie er dan maar eens te komen, bijvoorbeeld. Ik vind de paden niet uitnodigend om in te gaan want waar komen ze uit? Kleinere winkels zijn niet direct te zien vanuit de uitcheckpoortjes en de tunnel naar de perrons toe mag best wat minder grijs, vind ik. Perrons zijn wel mooi en de loopbrug waar je treinen kan kijken die het station in en uitrijden, vind ik zeker een pluspunt. Wel echt heel handig dat er nu ook op de Duitse stations, die vlak over de grens liggen, uitgecheckt kan worden. Ik denk dat ik binnenkort maar weer eens naar Gronau ga dan :D en dat nu zonder grensticket :) Ik vond het een leuke video :)

Ja het station is geweldig inderdaad, toen ik aan het filmen was merkte ik ook dat mensen soms in de war waren met welke bushaltes, vandaar dat ik dit extra benoem haha. En uitchecken in Duitaland, is echt zo fijn nu inderdaad.

As I'm staying in Dusseldorf next month while Interrailing (thankfully I'll finish before the Euros start), I'm still deciding which way to get into the Netherlands. This RE19 service to Arnhem or the RE13 to Venlo, which one would you recommend more? Either way, I'd be getting an NS IC train (hopefully a double-deck VIRM) onwards to Utrecht before visiting Amsterdam and Rotterdam for the day. I was initially planning to get the ICE direct from Dusseldorf, but the revised ICE timetables (no early morning service, poor reliability in recent times, compulsory reservations and diverted away from Dusseldorf) for June mean it'll be better to use either of those RE services connecting with a domestic IC service instead for an early start.

Actually this one or RE13, they're both fine. Maybe I prefer this one a bit more. However check about 10 days prior depaturr if there are no construction works.

@@Trainviking turns out I'd have to go via Venlo either way, given they've recently updated the timetables such that the Arnhem service terminates at Oberhausen with a rail replacement bus onwards due to engineering works on the line. It seems the ICE timetable was updated much earlier than the regional timetables. Advantage of this route would be that I'd be able to spend more time on the NS IC trains, especially if they're double-decker. Is it usually the double-deck VIRMs on the Venlo to Utrecht service?

Hi I have a question. I have an international ticket non-flexible from Amsterdam to Europapark via Arnhem and the RE19 to Dusseldorf. However, because a reservation is not needed, Im wondering if I can use a train earlier? I have quite a short connection time in Dusseldorf so im thinking about taking the RE19 an hour earlier than indicated on my ticket. Is this possible? I tried to look online but its very hard to find the correct awnser on the DB website. I know that on the Dutch part of the trip, Amsterdam -Arnhem this of course wont be a problem since tickets with the NS are never bound to a specific train.

Hey, yes, it's possible to take an earlier RE19, I even recommend doing that.

You can use it for the German part for sure, for the section in The Netherlands I honestly don't know. To play safe, I advice you to buy a ticket for that part of the route.

13:25 the fall of Abellio has nothing to do with the pandemic. Abellio has always written red numbers and so the Dutch parliament decided to not invest anymore in the German part of Abellio
