I listened to modern day bodybuilders and to be honest it was information overload and while I did apply a lot of their principles. I only started seeing crazy progress when I applied the principles directly off of this book. The golden era has taught me much more than the modern era.

I must've bought this book about 15 yrs ago and I still believe it's the most complete treatise on bodybuilding I've ever seen. There's so much info that the best you can hope for is to utilize strictly what you believe is in your best interest for the type of development you're looking for....

This book to me is sacred, it saved my life in LA because it kept me away from gangs and it i stilled in me confidence that comes from a great body thru hard work, discipline and self-pride when I was a teen in the 80's. I wish Still had this book but I will order a mew one.

My dad gave me this about 15 years ago. I read some of it. It is now that I'm barely really digging in to this information. It has also kept me from returning to the streets and using. It keeps me sober. I am starting to live a new life now thanks to this book. It is indeed very sacred to me as well

Very insightful review, thanks for uploading Brandon! Although some of the info. may be outdated (and the training programs a bit extreme for natural lifters), there still seems to be a plethora of really useful knowledge on an abundance of topics from the Greatest himself. Worth buying for that alone!

In the 50's and 60's it was prescribed to women as a general health tonic before they realized the virilization side effects, so its plausible that it was also readily available for a wide range of individuals.

It’s interesting that the newest data lines up similarly to the old school bodybuilding approach. High frequency is the successful approach according to the data. Hitting your bodyparts 2-3x a week for natural builders is becoming the recommendation. The difference I see is pairing up particular muscles. And of course it should be known that these high frequency programs must implement being conservative with intensity. It must be lower intensity in order to not overtrain or injure one’s self
@BasementBrandon2 жыл бұрын
I think it's also finding the balance of volume/intensity.
@BasementBrandon12 жыл бұрын
I'll try to address it! Just use that as motivation when you're able to train!

You are basically are bashing all his splits. Just curious of what split you think is good? That 3 day split was done by many of old school greats. Danny Padilla did the 3 day split.
@BasementBrandon4 жыл бұрын
The answer depends on the trainee. But just b/c someone used a split, especially someone who already has good genetics and used anabolics, that doesn't mean it's the best split :)

I personally don't let "the three body types" affect my psychology when bodybuilding. I was born a skinny runt "ectomorph" because I wasn't fed in the bad environment I grew up in as a kid but now I'm what most people would call a "mesomorph". You can break out of your stereotypical body type whenever you're ready to. You need the training and education of how to break out of it. You're not genetically fucked when it comes to your body shape. Hard work can "cure you" of any body type.

I was thinking of running the level 1 program but adjusted, its a pretty good split but it was designed for more pre comp, so i was thinking of adding more rest days by running it in a cycle fashion of three days on one off. Every muscle will still get hit about every five days which is still twice a week but managing recovery is a lot easy. But lets be honest, it really doesn't matter how "optimale" your routine is, the guy who trains hard and trains consistently will beat out the guy who always changes his routine based on "the latest science"
@BasementBrandon11 ай бұрын
Yeah part of progressing is finding a program you enjoy and one that you'll put effort into.

The Level 1 Routine is not to much Volume ,it does work for adding Mass and Bulk . The Level 11 is great for getting in shape fast but make sure you use lighter weights and only do it for 6 weeks .This routine is great for burning off Fat. I have used this routine and also Ran early in the Morning Yep great Routine and did it without Steroids .
