Chaplin, David Lean, Omar Sharif, Peter Otoole, Sean Connery are examples of the American dream. They lived their lives the way they wanted and bowed to no one. Arnold is an example of American corruption. He did a lot of things to get to where he was. Arnold was calculated and it's no secret that he even married for power. If you think of where Arnold started out from, then where he got to - a mega film star and then on to becoming Governor of California, you cannot help but admire the man for his ambition, drive to achieve his dreams and his hard work and tenacity alone. There is also something just so damned likeable about him. I get the sense he doesn't take himself too seriously at all, which is a great quality. Hats off to him!

I felt the very opposite way growing up. As a kid my mom would tell me stories of when she grew up in Germany and of how her and my dad used to live in Germany. So from a very early age I felt as if I belonged in Germany more than I did in America. And that drove me all the way into adulthood to when I eventually joined the Army and I ASKED to be sent to Germany. I got my wish, I lived in Germany for over 5 years and I never wanted to leave. I lived in Mannheim, which is now like a second home to me. Even though I'm not longer there and I'm back in America, I still keep in touch with my friends in Germany and I'm going to be going back as soon as I can.

The thing is, that he really has something rural Austrian about him in this interview. You easily envision him as an old, life-experienced farmer in Styria, handling everything from fully grown bulls to bee hives to agricultural machines with full perfection, knowing everything about every plant and weather condition. I have met such people, and, as “American” he might ever get, I think it is one of the appealing traits of this larger than life man, that his roots are and ever will be a part of him.
