honestly i think Arnold was a better poser and he utalized his insane biceps and chest very well. Franko had alteast in my eyes the better midsection because he had more solid looking abs. To me both are great representatives of a classic physique

He really put great thought and effort into his routines and it seemed to be totally natural for him. His transitions were, many times, every bit as incredible as his poses and that man knew how to work the angles. He truly had a knack for it heh, heh.

Franco had ridiculous pec development. His arms were small compared to his chest and back, and his leg seperation was non existent. Arnolds legs were thin, but they were seperated and had nice sweep when he was in contest condition. There really was no way franco could have beaten arnold, his structure and lower body seperation was not good enough.

Andrew Clements I think he was way stronger. He could out lift him on every type of lift, and was 50 lbs lighter. As I stated above, most of their best lifts have become exaggerated slowly over time. Franco seemed to train heavy throughout his career but Arnie trained fairly light. Arnie used more volume which is why he trained with Ed corney in 1975, Ric Drasin stated he never saw Arnie curl a dumbbell heavier than 60 lbs!!!

Franco was a power lifter before he was a bodybuilder. Arnold enjoyed powerlifting until it started to change the look of his body so he only did a little bit of it during his bodybuilding years.

Franco had that crazy upper chest and overall chest conditioning, as well as really low lat insertions, which I think looks good. As a bodybuilding judge, I don't see how Franco could beat Arnold, because the overall mass difference is too significant.

Right on Nick, I am one of your viewers who is diggin' these polls. Straight outta the gate I've gotta say that Arnold Schwarzeneggar is definitely my choice between these two. I'm not sayin' that Franco Columbu isn't the real deal, 'cause he absolutely is. In fact, I'll even go along with the claim that Franco usually showed the better conditioning/definition. I am a big believer in the theory that shorter fellas have an easier time building and showing muscle. I don't know why but I tend to prefer the taller physiques, when they're proportioned correctly. In yesterday's poll I chose Wesley, it's a subjective thing, personal preference and I guess that is mine. That whole subjective factor is why I've been saying that the Classic Physique division needs to decide on standards and make 'em public. That's the only way to have even the illusion of fair judgement and a level playing field. That's a rant for another day though heh, heh. So, yup, personal totally subjective preference is Arnold for my vote. As usual Nick, outstanding content...thank you! .......................................PEACE!!

Arnold all the way, less grainy, better V, superior chest and arms and his symmetry was great. His posing just smooth and flowing and in B&W photography it just had a great muscle depth that highlighted and contrasted perfectly.....hence he is one of the greatest and a 7 time Olympian.

I think Franco had a better stomach and a comparable chest, but Arnold's limbs definitely had Franco's beat out in general. Franco also had relatively larger lats compared to his frame, but I think the shape and look of Arnold's were more aesthetic.

Frankos arms chest and abs look better even though they were smaller but Arnold's back shoulder and legs looked alot better. Arnold also had great arms chest and abs so he was a more of a complete package but franko was definitely a monster.

I will deffinetly say even know i prefer Arnold, Franco had a better mid section as well matured muscle. But i think arnold won so many times cause when you watch his posing rutin, it was just spectacular and never able to be duplicated. He had his weakness in the legs their for a while, but yes his posing was what won it for my so fluent and one! Either way love them both!!

Aesthetically speaking franco was superior, he had better proportions considering his overall size. Arnold being taller had a huge advantage over franco cause Arnold was able to fill out that height. Its why Serge Nubret is one of my top guys, he had the height, size and aesthetics but not to the level of Arnold or Franco who were superior in their respective fields

The shorter guys definitely have a more dense physique but personally i like the streamlined look of Arnold over the stocky, almost chunky Franco. Its always down to a personal preference however, as bodybuilding should be.
