Reminds me of a Dan Bell Dead Mall series video. Very good, I enjoy watching narrated tours of locations like this.

It crushes me to see the Arnot Mall like this. It used to be a treat to go to this mall and spend the day shopping. The pandemic really did a number on it. Even though there were a fair number of closed stores, the mall itself would be moderately busy any given day of the week prior to the pandemic. It's a bummer to see this place go the way of the dinosaur. 3:34 the "play center" was a indoor ballpit/play area for kids. 3:43 There are still a few Olympia stores around. Started popping up in mid 2000's, many have since closed. 5:01 it was the Bon Ton 6:38 "Great Escape" is an escape room experience 7:43 it's "Shoe Department" Common in strip/plaza malls, too 9:46 it was originally a Friendly's 9:55 the food court used to have a Burger King/Arby's/Blimpie, etc. 10:40 The theatre is now open 12:40 It was Macy's 14:33 sign is likely from 2000s

The store you thought was a children clothing store early on use to be a playground/daycare where parents could leave their kids while they shop. And yea, you were right about old Bon Ton, although it did briefly relocate to old Macy's location before it closed for good

The second store was last bon ton location, but before it was Macy's and Kaufmanns before that

This mall at one time had a Hess's anchor Store with The Patio Restaurant. We use to get a huge Strawberry pie there for Easter every year

As a kid I would go to this mall. The thrift store - that used to be a Joanne fabrics. There was a dollar tree in the mall at one point. Also had a Walden Books & a KB Toys store, Sam Goody & so many more stores. I remember the food court had places such as friendlys, Burger King, arbys, picnic pizza. It’s just sad to see it all go.

I give the AM 5-8 more years before they close their doors. Another 2 years before JCP pulls out.

In colonial times, their "malls" must have consisted of open stalls... It was mostly rural, so people may have gathered on a Saturday (never Sunday) and it would have looked similar to our 'farmer's market' of today... Thus the name: farmer's market! "The Colonial Mall" ["Ma!... hitch up the horses, we're goin' to the town mall"]... Hahaha 🍥THANKS FOR THE TOUR = TERRIFIC!

Such a shame how malls have suffered due to the pandemic.

Not a shame just time for new exciting things to happen to retail. 50 year reign. Amazing!

@@persontimr5052 It's also possible but I don't see retail being what it was before the pandemic. It might change to something better but with the online shopping I don't see it full force.
