Hi Ben! This is Hector Berrios sending a big thank you for a job well done. You really took a deep dive researching the material to post a detailed version of what transpired during his off-season. I’m happy for Aroldis, to show the type of athlete he is back on the MLB stage. Thanks again Ben, and keep up with your amazing work.

Hector told me that one of the big things he worked on him with was that he was landing too closed, and he opened him up more. You can see it here in these side by sides too.

That’s one of the first things I noticed but wasn’t sure if it was just a by product of rotating better or intentional. Thanks for the insight

you beat me to it! seems like opening up some helped his right leg to brace better. with the yankees his right ankle sort of wants to buckle to where his lower leg wants to take the knee to 3rd base side. now his lower leg visibly tilts toward 1st and stays that way til long after ball release.

I’m the same height as Chapman and a LHP with a similar build and always used him for a reference in delivery. Him getting that horizontal in the hinge is insane 🤯. Great breakdown

Hell yea! Great breakdown! Hector is the man! I know this was mostly about velocity but you should see some of the stuff Hector is doing for his MLB guys as it pertains to command. Mind blowing stuff. I hope you get to pick his brain on that on the podcast too. Nice video clip in the middle by the way 😉

Chapman has incredible flexibility and has a baseball strength. This guy is just strong. Leg presses 900 and arm curl with curl bar with 2-45 lb plates on each side and does it for reps. It very much reminds me of Nolan Ryan when he went to the Rangers and House change his workout program and Nolan got more on strength program and added more mass but increase his body speed. Glad to see Chap getting it together again

With a little career with music , I can say for sure that going through the motions slow with a band would be incredibly beneficial, learning your body and feeling the muscles you are using in your delivery can give you a better idea or “que” to feel that stretch or separation. I love the idea! Edit: I also noticed that the band straightening his leg after his drift is a lot similar to shoheis as it keeps their hips closer giving them more room the wind their shoulders.

Hey Ben, My name is Francois Castillo & I’ve been subscribed to your extremely helpful content for years now, I’ve learned nearly all of my pitching mechanics through your mechanical breakdowns on other pitchers. I actually have done 1-2 lessons with Scott F…When he lived in Illinois.. I’ve been up to 99 with the help of just watching your free content, as unreal as it may sound.. I would love for you to do a breakdown on my favorite pitcher Jhoan Duran! It’s amazing how consistent his 4-seam has been at 101 mph this year compared to 99 last year!

Chapman is that rare talent that just doesn't give a shit all the time. When he does, he's electric which i put down to him being in a reliever/closer roll. he's bored when he goes for several games without pitching.

It makes a lot of sense to me that Mr. Hector emphasizes going slow at first when fixing technique! In music, we must practice very slowly when a fundamental change is made to our playing technique. The body likes slow. Slow means it can process everything. Then it can gradually speed that new process up! I dunno, just a musician's perspective on this cool subject.

Squat and overhead press for strength, stretching for mobility. I'm 42 and i throw harder than i did in my 20s because of this. The snatch and clean and jerk may be the most overlooked movements in all of strength and athletic training.

You brought up the age thing with power pitchers. If you haven't already done a video of Nolan Ryan. That would be a good one for people to see since he was still breaking 100mph into his 40's. Randy Johnson would be a good as well and for the same reason. He was over 40 for a power pitcher.

His velo fluctuation is kind of weird though. I remember he was averaging 99 in 2020 and topping out at 102. Then in 2021 he lost like 2 mph on average and only topped out at 98. 2022 he lost more on average but got back to topping out at 102. And then this year his velo is down to 96 while only topping out at 98

Justin Verlander has resurged also, the guy is 40 and is pitching like he's 29 again🤣 Verlander was finished it seemed at 31 years old with a 4.54 ERA and somehow at the age of 39 he has an ERA of 1.75, 18W and 185 strikeouts🤔 Not trying to imply PED use, just seems strange.
