@@bladerunner3314 A lot of formerly indoctrinated Christians and Muslims turn back to God in prison. Even if religious abuse partly is responsible for them ending there, the environment pushes them to seek solace in the familiar. And of course, coming to Jesus helps with inmate treatment/mistreatment and parole boards; pius remorse works wonders.

Yea I've said this for years. I watched innumerable speakers over the past 10 years, when I started to get interested in religion and politics. Aron Ra is the only speaker I know that can chain immensely long sentences together with very diverse word usage and not once stumble over his words, slow down or say "uh" in between. I see him up there with Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins.

Sadly because he is unabashedly atheist. The only science educators who can gain mainstream traction are the ones who dont have anything to say about religion such as Neil deGrasse Tyson who rejects any notion that he is an atheist. Im one of those people who Aron helped pull from the clutches of delusion so even if the best he can hope for is to be popular among atheist youtube viewers, he will always be the stuff of legends and a personal hero to me

@Aging_Casually_Late_Gamer 2 жыл бұрын
@Gwwc’mp Éfghœ no. It doesn't. Athism is simply the lack of a belief in a god. No belief is required. Second, when it comes to science it's not as if this is done in secret and they are merely telling us the results. It's pubic domain on what the tests were, what the variables and conditions were. So that it can be tested by other people. Thats the very nature of peer review. Third, if you must personally verify everything yourself and not listen to experts in the field, then EVERYTHING by your definition is "blind faith". History, astrophysics, biology, quantum mechanics, because 1 human cannot possible know and be a expert in everything. You're projecting your own faults onto us. Period. Because science never uses words like "absolute truth". Because we realize that the possibility of something changing is always there.

@Gary LaVere Since you asked, I imagine you wouldn’t listen at all because you’ve already decided you can’t possibly be mistaken or misled. Especially if you believe in an omnipotent star-creating super being that blinks things into existence. Did he create the starlight light years away from their stars to make the earth appear old, or is it possible Genesis gets the order of events wrong because it was written by fallible tribalist men who didn’t know what they were talking about? Why does it read like ancient Hebrew poetry full of more misses than hits when it comes to historical accuracy, and oftentimes barbaric guidelines for how people should live and treat each other with the occasional word of ancient human wisdom sprinkled among the nonsense? Beats me, but maybe you should ask a theologian or a psychologist. Who am I kidding? If your question was any indicator, then you probably think academia is slave to the will of “the beast.” At least we know that washing our hands is a good thing, no thanks to Yeshua.

When I thought my children started having sex as teens, I sat them down for the talk. I explained that it was not wise to "wait until you get married" as these stupid purity balls suggest. I explained to them that you don't want to get married, and then soon after discover your partner likes some sexual thing that horrifies you. I explained that sex/love making was an important part of a relationship and it was super important to ensure you are compatible with your partner, before you get married and thus avoid feeling trapped and unhappy. I provided condoms and other forms of birth control. I, and my wife, taught my children about safe sex and stand by that decision. They are now 26 and 21 and there have been no pregnancies despite both having various boyfriends and girlfriends. Talk to your children people. Be open. Don't make them feel awkward about talking about anything!

They're so stupid on so many levels! You don't become/stay a famous musician by making music that permanently gets rid of your fan base. Also, they're just jealous that their music couldn't possibly help anyone with their mental health. Don't know where I'd be if I'd not had music when I was younger. I love Metal now, but back then, mid-late teens, I was (still am @ 40) a raver not a rocker. In fact because of the quarantine, there've not been any Psytrance raves/stomps to go for two yrs and my mental health has taken a massive hit. That was my happy, cathartic place where I could just go crazy*, let all the anger, emotions and pent up energy/insanity out and fill up on happy vibes. Not at all religious, but it did/does lift/heal my spirit. Have lost 3stone in 8mnths having lost my musical outlet; was only 12 1/2St to begin with. That said if i live long enough to ever go to another one that's 3 less stone to stomp around the dancefloor for 8-12 hrs! :D Ozzy and I are both from the same part of Hell..., The Black Country, Birmingham. I don't have any music you can play backwards for a Demonic message, but I can't let the side down! :D *Reviled did I live as a evil I did deliver* - play/read that backwards! Impressive Yes!! Now your soul is mine!!! :D It's all good, we have the best music, and you can listen to it whilst snorting a line of coke of a hooker's stomach; don't worry Aron'll be there too!! :D Stairway to Heaven, Highway to Hell - think that gives us a rough estimate of predicted travel numbers!! Ehhhh, I can't take Aristotle seriously now that I know he believed the uterus was a wild animal living inside women and that women were defective men born when a man's seed was made to weak by the man being too moist. I know it doesn't have much to do with philosophy but, y'know, when a dude thinks half the human race is controlled by a giant symbiotic animal-organ, I wonder if some of that might not indicate some biases in his philosophy that raises a few eyebrows. (Though he did quote a shitton of others so through his fanboying we know more philosophers, that's always good.) Plato was pretty cool, though, dude worldbuilt a whole ass civilization as social satire on the hubris of Athens and we only know him by his wrestling name.

I had a similar experience when i made it clear to my dad decades ago that i believed god to be fantasy, and he asked me why i disbelieved in god but believed in the devil. They'll even blame humanity the evils like natural disasters that have nothing to do with human action and harm the faithful and the nonbelievers alike. Either God doesn't exist or he's an evil bastard that gets off on everybody's suffering despite the fact that he could easily create a perfect world. Either way, God doesn't deserve worship.

They're not even smooth, there are wiser ways, it just seems unsophisticated the way they do things, meaning as "satanists". Atheist Satanism seems to me still bound on the stage of the theater of Christianity, although not as bad as theist satanists who are as deluded as Christians and take a part on that stage closer to them, theist satanists are basically christians who worship satan, it's all still based on that Zoroastrian based duality of Christianity which the early christian cult seemingly got from the essenes like Manichaeism, Mani's parents being from the sect of Elceseites. Every negation entails an affirmation of that which it is negating, more so when that negation is obsessive. Get off the fucking stage, leave the theater, walk down the block, heil a cab and leave it. But than again....Ra just aligned himself with the first 501c3 religious organization of atheists in US history and that's the genius of it.

Hell yeah Aron, fantastic talk as always. You've been a tremendous help as I have recognized my position as an atheist. I love science; I love evolutionary biology in particular. So let's just say I'm glad I've come to realize that the doubt I felt was not nearly a bad thing. It simply was my desire to seek the truth, and to know that I truly know what I know. I've officially recognized myself as an atheist for just over three years at this point. I find it fascinating when I consider the very last time I tried to speak with god. He was awfully quiet, as you can imagine. But you can be damn sure that I'm glad to be rid of that contradiction-ridden faerie tale. And now, more than ever, I strive to ensure that my beliefs logically follow where the evidence leads. The truth is what the facts are, and only what we can show to be true. I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who you've had this kind of impact on, even if it is only through your talks and videos. I have nothing but respect for your immense dedication to bringing religion down from the incorporeal pedestal folks still try to place it on. BG2 assumes you finished the first game with a certain (roughly chaotic good) group and some of them died after BG1, that's really all the spoilers you get by starting with one of the coolest dungeons in the series. there's a huge collection of possible companions in either game, so the spoilers don't really matter. i never played icewind dale 2, but i assume it's the same there as all these games look almost identical, except for the story. icewind dale 1 is good, too, it just doesn't compare to baldur's gate. if you still want more of that after finishing BG1&2, it's worth a try. planescape was a bit too weird for my taste, iirc. i'm more the material plane type of guy, i guess. 2: neverwinter nights 1 semi-successor to baldur's gate 2. 3D engine from 2002s, doesn't look great but it's decent. i last played it over a dozen years ago, all i remember is that i liked it. given that BG2 is my favorite game of all time (second is diablo 2, third wow) and i expected NWN to be the next part in the series, it can't be total crap. i think it has some compatibility issues, because that's the most likely explanation for why i didn't play it more often and games from the late 90s-early 2000s are usually the hardest to run on newer pcs. there's also a few unfinished ones: 3: neverwinter nights 2 i'd love to love this game. the story is good, the ruleset is implemented well, it looks waaay better than all the previous titles (it's from 2006), the crafting system is amazing and there's an endless pool of user-generated campaigns. but it's so buggy, i refuse to call it a finished game. save often, use multiple slots, don't overwrite saves; delete them first if you have to. also, get a custom AI. i finished it a week ago, and i still don't know if i loved or hated the game. probably both. also with maxed graphics, you don't see anything anymore in heated battles. 4: baldur's gate 3 pre-release not bioware or obsidian, it's actually being developed by larian (divinity series). it's on gog. well, act 1 is on gog, they're planning to release it by the end of the year. it's still pretty short, but so far, i really liked what i have seen, and there weren't even any bugs that really annoyed me. looks like they approached it in the exact opposite way the NWN2 devs did: the game could already be done, if only the story wasn't lagging behind. the story is unrelated to the old series, you start as a lowly slave, and not as the god of murder, sorry ;) the last game i was this hyped for was diablo 3, and once that abomination came out, i didn't think i could ever get this hyped for an upcoming game ever again. hope that helps :D
