I've been in denial about my hearing loss for years and started wearing hearing aids last month. A whole new world and I have been missing sooo much prior to this. Planning a one month Europe vacation this fall and your information is priceless. Love all of your travel videos. Well done and fun to watch as well as full of practical info.

Love this vlog Lainey. I’ve genetic hearing loss, but have been too proud to seek the help of an audiologist; and it’s getting worse. Your vlog might have just changed my outlook! Thanks!

You’re welcome! I was too proud to get help with my genetic hearing, too. Once I got my hearing aids, I wished I’d done it sooner. I’ve had them for 11 years.

You're welcome. I agree that it's so tough to find good information. If you ever have other ideas, I'd love to know! -Lainey

Have only just came across your videos... love them! I've been hearing impaired since birth and relied on aids my whole life pretty much... am now 52. Eek! I have been a regular traveller since my early 20s. Have always been pretty casual about the aids though... only recall having issues when I was backpacking through Europe and needed urgent repairs 😉 Keep the fun happening....

Thanks for watching! Do you have any tips for hearing aid travel? I'd love to hear some!

@@DaysWeSpend I think you've covered it! Definitely pack enough batteries to cover your time away. A waterproof ziplock bag is a great idea when going to the beach or having a swim - as I said I've always been pretty casual about things with my aids. Thankfully it's never caused too many issues!

This was excellent. I was flying to the UK in May and wanted to wear a face mask on the plane. It was very difficult to make sure my aids were safe when I removed the mask. Any suggestions? Also I was on a Hop on Hop Off bus with headphones. Had to remove my aids to use the head phones. Any suggestions for this? My aids do have Bluetooth. Thank you so much for this video Lainey.

Thanks for watching. Yes, wearing a mask is tough with hearing aids, but I've gotten better at making sure the mask isn't catching on my hearing aids. I have to remove my hearings aids with headphones, too. Any time I remove them (for headphones or on plane), I put them in their case and the case goes in my waist pack or purse. When I take them off with a mask on, I often remove one mask ear loop, use my finger to keep the mask pressed against my face, then take out my hearing aid. The only other solution is to carry around your own pair of over-the-ear headphones that fit over your hearing aids. But that feels like a lot of extra stuff to carry. I sometimes bring my small Bose sport headphones. They can fit in my ear with the hearing aids if I need, too. Not the best solution, but it works in a pinch.
