I feel so fortunate to have been able to experience the Disco era first hand. Spent many nights at the various clubs in and around L.A. during my early to late 20's! Still love to hear the music!

In 1979. It was crazy here on the dance floor. Our tight orange shirts on pants in tall sizes were soaked and impregnated with the smell of stale smoke! We can not forget your pipe ! Big thank you from France Sidney !

On this day in 1979 {March 17th} Arpeggio performed "Love and Desire (Part One)" on the syndicated Saturday-afternoon program, 'Soul Train'... At the time "Love and Desire" was at #82 on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart, four weeks later it would peak at #44 {for 2 weeks} and it spent nine weeks on the chart... And the following month on April 14th the trio would appear on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand', were they performed "Love and Desire", at the time it was peaking at #44 on the Hot Soul Singles chart... May Don Cornelius {1936 - 2012} R.I.P.

Hey I'm not mad, money is cool but I get my satisfaction from knowing so many people enjoy what I do. I'm blessed and not hurting for anything, at least I can sleep good at night, and I hope those that cheated me out of all my royalties through the years sleep good as well. But I'll bet they don't. Cheers to all the music lovers throughout the world.

@SidBarnes1941 I bow to you. Maybe my favorite disco tune ever. I was a dancer back then (messed up my knee auditioning for "Breakin'" in the early '80s. Someone nicknamed me Danny Terio's younger brother-hated that. Also hated when the dance teahcer Luigi, who taught Travolta, said I reminded him of JT. I was way better than both.). Anyway, just an amazing dance tune. I probably owe you a lot of money for all your trouble. Tore up my Capezio's and my Crayons to this. Peace and MUCH love.

@SidBarnes1941 This is one of my favorite disco songs from that era and it is sad how they took advantage of a lot of talented musicians back in those days. Those who pepped hits like this and never saw a dime of it specially now that a lot of this music is sooooo used in commercials and in movies. This was a very special time in music and I love every track that came out of the disco era no matter how cheesy it was but this is a GREAT JAM....always put me in the mood to dance =)

I can vouch for what Mr. Barnes is saying. My mother also lent vocals to this hit and "Let the Music Play." This was basically an early version of Milli Vanilli or C&C Music Factory. She has told me on a few occasions about how random people were brought in to be the faces on the album cover. The business is indeed shady.

Sidney, when I was 13 years old this song rocked me out!! and has influenced many of my own song writing ideas. Simply put there has never been anything that sounds like love and desire. I especially dig the r&B fusion with the pure excitement of disco. I hope you find a way to make money off of this maybe on itunes or something?? Did you make anything off of Panic and french kiss??? Well, the rapaciousness of the music industry is well documented, so your story, sad as it is, is all too common. This song was a HUGE smash in NY and Philly and Down the Shore.SHOULD have earned you .a handsome chunk. Well, the record companies are now getting theirs - the Internet has now made music so easy to steal (free of charge) that record sales have been plummeting. So carry on pridefully, just KNOWING how much your talent has really been appreciated over the years.

@SidBarnes1941 it is a great vocal performance. its too bad you guys didnt get paid. acutally I think your sound was usurped by a group called LIME that came out after you but used this same sound , but had more hits, race could have played a factor in that success. but either way this is still a great dance track

I'm saddened but not at all surprised to read that veteran Soul man Sidney Barnes didn't receive a penny in royalties from this record. Simon Soussan is a well know conman and bootlegger from way back, and has apparently ripped off everyone he's ever had dealings with. He's even ripped off part of the melody from the Flirtations' Northern Soul hit "Stronger Than Her Love".
