Learn how we can get stuck in our arrested development

That's crazy! In my early 20's, I came up with H.A.L.T. I told myself never to make a major decision while Hungry/H😜rny, Angry, Lonely, or Tired. I didn't follow it and got in a few jams. Thank God, nothing legal or life endangering. I plan to put it to practice from now on.

Such a concise and piercing commentary on a psychosis millions struggle with. There’s a guy at my job who’s in his late 40’s, still wears his high school graduation ring, has a laugh like a little boy, and works with a bunch of 20 something’s because he hasn’t been able to make it anywhere else in our company. Needs constant hand holding, only seems to talk about “back in the day”, and is next to paralyzed when asked anything deep about life. I hope he finds a video like this and gets help. It’s the most saddening and severe case of arrested development I’ve ever seen.

Thank you for describing this. I’m 54 years old. With HALTS I got the S I guess. Stress from trauma as a kid. Plus SE from DASE. It’s hard. I made two songs “Cry to You” and “A Better Man” as part of my own therapy. Very recently I learned I have Arrested Development from a therapist and need help as a father of a 16 year old to overcome it.

Yes. It is so important to see this matter for what it truly is. More compassion (but not pandering), research, awareness, possible solutions/help, etc is needed.This is soo important. I am *so* happy to see a video like this. Outstanding!!! Bless! 🌟

Great video! Can you please make a second part for how to deal with HALTS in an underdeveloped spouse? I think society is starving for a few answers on this. Most of us don't even know it's arrested Development. We just see them as jerks when in reality they are unaware of what adults should be like.

Can you do one on delusional stalkers who hold onto fantasies & harass victims 24/7 for constant attention instead of living their lives & leaving other people tf alone? Why don’t they grow up? Is medication needed? When do they get better supply & ACTUALLY move on instead of trying to make someone jealous who doesn’t even care? What’s the cure for ego & embarrassment?

Easier said than done, but there is a responsibility towards all of us to grow and and learn. Granted, we all do not have the same environmental triggers that others have, and every situation is different. Regardless, morality and reconciliation of what you have done coupled with how it effects the world, however small, needs reflection. I think you did a great job explaining this. It was structured, and simplified for someone going down that road to morally judge their actions.

Just wanted to ask, are you a believer in Jesus? Your language reminded me of a fellow Christian when you brought up “the unholy trinity of me myself and I” and also when you rightly called out pride. Anyway, very good teaching on arrested development. Much appreciated.

I made an observation while watching this video: Mr. Rob has a motorcycle in the intro, a portrait of John Wayne, and a Bison coffee mug, very manly indeed. I keep noticing my peers, 25-40 yr old men unintentionally and constantly, showing in their youtube videos, Funko POP dolls, action figures, cartoons(anime), stuffed animals, and many other questionable items, like treating video games as a worthy adult activity, all that makes me believe in Rob and the arrested development pandemic. Another thing I noticed is how all these ladies are divorcing under the reason that they wanted to marry a man, not a boy... sad but true. Rob if you ever get a chance, can you reply and point me to more content regarding this phenomenon of men losing touch with their Y chromosome, are we facing another Spanandry? Thanks

Hi, thank you for this video. But how come I wasn't ego-based at age 10? My 16 year old brother got kicked out, cut off and I was horrified for him and cried and promised him I would come over to cook for him? How come I wasn't just all about me, like you said in your video, up to the age of 12, people are ego-based? I was totally feeling sorry for my older brother and crying for him. Maybe your model isn't so true? Maybe this ego-base stops a lot earlier, maybe at age 6 or something like that?
@richard60885 жыл бұрын
Not every single person is exactly the same. You have to realize the complexities if the human mind.
@janjenkinson18294 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you flew right into big time co dependency: me too
@sissi86104 жыл бұрын
@@janjenkinson1829 I don't see it that way at all. I am still amazed that I had compassion like that at Age 10. I think it's a good thing. I heard it somewhere before, some children have a lot of compassion already, they need to learn to assert themselves better, and to take care of themselves, and some children have hardly any compassion, they need to focus on that and learn to consider others as well. I strongly believe that our souls have been around for a long, long time, and we come here, already with characteristics and qualities. As David Attenborough said in one of his documentaries, every spider had it's own personality. I hope you learnt how to consider your own needs as well, and don't allow yourself to be exploited, but having this basic compassion for others, I think, is a really good thing.
