The only difference is background separation whereby arri one looks more popped out 3d while the gh7 is a little flat. But goddamn close

Thank you so much for this test, the colors are so close. I need some clarification: once ARRI Log C3 is activated, can you use it in 10-bit LongGOP 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 recording modes or are you forced to use ProRes only? Thanks!

In Richard Wong's video I found Arri LOG C3 works in 10-bit LongGOP modes. Excellent!

Thanks a lot for the test. The GH7 is impressively close. Just a correction, it is Log C3 and not CLog3. The latter is canon's log profile for hybrid cameras.

I mean there’s nothing going on here it’s just a blank background, and these are super close - but why does the Alexa just ALWAYS look better. Serious question.. what is it doing that makes it just always look better. Is the body just 15% sensor, 85% cpu?

In this video I feel it's the micro-contrast and color rendition of the cinema lens at 35mm that's shining through. It looks like they used a MFT lens for the GH7 instead of adapting the cinema lens, though even if they did it could be argued that the crop might affect the IQ in some way.

Thanks for this, what lenses were used on this test? Sure the colors are not 100 percent a match but I was able to get it very close lowering the saturation and greens of the gh. Surprisingly vlog was much more difficult to match and wasn't even close in the end, so I guess Lumix wasn't lying about this after all.

So you can clormatch them…but please try a higher dynamic range scene? And maybe do the same with Nikon Z8 8k raw? Especially since cinematch is a thing i dont worry about colour matching as much, but Highlight/shadow rolloff (eg. if theres a window behind her) would be far more interesting no?

The GH7 is impressively close to the Alexa Mini colors. A bit darker in the shadows and skin tones are a bit too saturated and not quite as natural as the Alexa, but damn are they close! Oddly though, I like the Vlog to Rec709 look more than the LogC3 to Rec709! Colors seem to pop a bit more, especially the red in her face.

And what if you shoot in apple pro res Raw? Is c log 3 still an option through 12 bit atomos recording?

@@nicolasbertemunoz4002 ARRI LogC3 is only available when you are shooting in the ProRes 422, ProRes 422 HQ and ALL-Intra codecs. You can’t use ARRI LogC3 when recording in ProRes RAW. ProRes RAW is V-log only.

Will never use an arri I work on cheap ass productions. Those colors look good though, I’m sure a talented colorist will come up with a lut for vlog that gives something close to the arri rec709 look

Compare side by side i feel GH7’s white balance has a slight green tint to it compared to Alexa mini, making skin tone look not as clean

10 year old camera tech shits payload on new camera. GH7 colours get close with the LogC3, but the Alexa Mini just eats the Pana on detail and image quality.
