No it's not the best!!! The director is too. He can tell a story through actor, placement camera movement! Take hitchcock for example! He can create suspense and tell you a story with only movment and "no words"! (Psyco)

There is no "best job" on set, just ones that suit you best. Personally, I can never see myself being a DP, so for me, a writer/director is the best job on set.
