Hope you manage to whittle your list down. Hard though .......so many options. We've thought about changing too in the not too distant future......but its a minefield. I guess one can whittle the choices down to a reasonable level. In our case, the obvious things set in stone are : budget>length>layout>dealer. We personally would not buy a Motorhome from a dealer that was too far away, because of servicing/repairs. But, we are lucky as we live in the Midlands, so plenty of choice. We're going Wednesday, with a list, like you guys. Have a good week.

Hi Bob, nice blog and very interesting . We also going to the show on 2 days and must admit our Pilote A class overhangs with a big garage but the rear air suspension makes it very stable. But the increase in new prices are scary and 15 month waiting time a real issue but good luck in your search . Look forward to your next blogs . Cheers .

Yes, air suspension seems like a wise move.

Thanks Bob and Jenny. My wish list is a transverse island bed, a window in the back of the van. The garage under the bed accessed from the outside.

Hello I noticed a few years ago you looked at the pilote 740fgj automatic, we purchased one in 2020 and must say a greatvan , low beds massive storage inside and a big garage and pull out storage for cables etc. The auto is fantastic. As for licence I hit 70 in December and our van is upgraded to 3650, the renewal after seeing the doctor will last for 3 years.

Another great video, thank you Bob, Jenny and Poppy. I love my Bailey Adamo 69-4, ordered in January, picked it up at beginning of September, the Ford is such a joy to drive after my Swift on a Fiat base, but the roads in Devon have always been “challenging!” Looking forward to visiting the show on Friday.

Hi Bob, jenny & poppy. Your not old Bob, its your mindset. I can understand that you both will still be holidaying in a motor home & yes there's quite a few to choose from, but I'm sure you'll pick the right one for you both. I think its lovely that you enjoy all these travels & get to see lots of different sites. My dad who's 92 has his caravan out the front of his bungalow, he has a tow bar on his car, but my sister & myself wouldn't like him to take it anywhere. Because of his age he doesn't travel far, but is still very active. His insurance for his car is very high because of his age & he has to renew his licence every year. So keep on camping. I hope bobs leg is better soon, & its nice to meet up with them. Take care both of you & I look forward to the nec. Lots of love Linda xx ❤

Excellent vlog. Its really funny as everything you said around the dilemma of choosing a replacement van we are going through ourselves . We retired early (62 yrs) and have decided to get a motorhome. It will be our first , though we have driven large horse lorries with living for the last 20 years. Sold our last one last year. You made some really good points especially about the driving license , we are a couple of years younger , but again , my current license is only valid 7 years. I just had to go through a medical due to existing conditions and it was renewed until I am 70. But have to give it serious thought ... being our first van, do we buy new or second hand, do we limit at 3500 or go higher. A factor in that decision is trying to second guess health. Also staying at 3500 my son and daughter could then borrow and use the van. Being older, both of us have mobility issues, also do I really want to alter a van I am just buying ? No. Do I want to be faced with renewing the license with a medical every 3 years post 70? Spending such a large amount at this time of life , will I get value from it? Will it last 5, 7 10+ years? So there are things we want, but not all the new models have everything. Its also a huge outlay. Budgets started at 60k but when you add in the must haves you then find the budget goes to 70k and then more like 80k . Island or low profile single beds - without step ups ..Power and a table needed for CPAP/Oxygen next to the bed ...Lots of models dont have power by the beds. Need a show and toilet you can actually get in - 6ft 1, lareg build... Microwave would be good, most standard/basics dont have them. Need storage. Last lorry we used to pack the tables and outside chairs in the shower, so this time a garage a must. We use electric bikes - so must be able to carry those - 60kg lost from the payload. Then there is an awning, not just a porch. .... I have spent the last month trawling all the manufacturers, looked at every video/youtube review I could get my hands on. Two weeks ago we went to Salop Leisure show in Shrewsbury and viewed the Voyager 584 , single beds too high a step up. However the 594 might do the job. Yes there is a large overhang , had something similar on a horse lorry but at least with a motorhome I wouldn't have a couple of ton of live animals in there. The Voyager spec is interesting - I have compared it against the Escape and the Lowdhams special - HiStyle ( thats based on Escape ) - 10k price difference between the Ford chassis/engine and the Fiat Engine/Chassis - the living sizing is the same on both models and decor / internal finishing with a wider hab door - does it really justify 10k ( the dealers are at least 5k more than Swift OTR price ). Then if you are going to pay more for the 160bhp you may as well pay 2k more for the 180 bhp. The Baileys - thanks for letting us know about production - Baileys seem to be way more expensive than the Swift for the same features as the Escape. We are at the NEC Wednesday, have booked a timed appointment with Swift to see their models. Will be interested to compare against the Bailey Adamo . Also looking to see Burstner Nexxo, Roller Team T-Line, Hobby Optima Delux. I do like the look at the Dethleffs Trend T 6757 and 7057 - their pricing is down near Swifts. Seen some horrible reviews of Elddis - but will be interested in their new models - the rest ... dont seem to have what we want, or i would need to sell my house to buy one !! Prices are still ridiculous. Wednesday will give me a really good idea. Good luck with your visit. And thanks for all your vlogs.

Wow, a lot to think about there. One thing I would say is about powerbanks, they make it much easier for people with CPAP machines. Have a look at some of my reviews

@@BobEarnshawMoHo forgot to mention. I have done an analysis of payloads available on the new motorhomes as we are looking for an auto with an awning. Its quite shocking. Most manufacturers of 3500kg end up with less than 400kg. Swift are sneaky as the miro on the voyager only includes 6kg gas . Even the Escape models are tight on payload meaning having to uplift to 3700 to get a tight but acceptable payload.

Just drive a motor home and hire a car when you're parked-up from Enterprise. The caravan clubs do specially rates, and they are delivered to your site.
