To be fair, this is an apples to oranges comparison.. By running a 40 x 82 vs 45 x 85 with the same gearing on both motors, your results aren't really surprising. Not saying tp's don't run hot, just stating that the smaller motor with slightly higher kv will pull more amperage and run hotter than the larger 1717

@Ehm Ee - You are right, there is a small size difference but there is only 100kv between them. But to be fair, I tried 5 teeth less on the pinion and on 6s instead of 8s, still ran very hot. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and watching.

@@RCPASS1 Tp motors are less efficient, hog amps like crazy, and get super hot in comparison to castle. Castle or Steve Neu is the way to go🏎💨🔥

You have it in the wrong car. Run the larger, longer to, or put that motor in a lighter car. Right tool for the right job. I put a 2 pole 4600 castle in a 10th scale drag car, and it sucked. It was made for an 18scale car a few pounds lighter.​@@RCPASS1

Wow, came across this video at just the right time. I'm in the middle of stretching my Arrma Typhon 6S at the moment & was debating on whether to stick with the 1717 1650kv that I'm currently using on my Limitless or going with a TP motor now that I have room for a longer can size. I was looking at the TP 4060 & 4070 1750kv motors. I guess there's a reason why these guys out there running TP have serious blower fans on them motors, can use them cars as a leaf blower lol 😂

His setup is not the same though the 1717 is much larger then the tp he running even though is similar KV the larger the can the more copper windings can handle more heat more power more every thing

Awesome paint on the body. I like the castle but mine burnt up, waiting on warranty. I’m using a hobby wing 4985 and it hold up much better for the reliability aspect but it was slower than the castle. Castle FTW! thanks for sharing

Metal rotor, stronger magnets. Over geared, or esc amping out. I run max5 v2 and mamba monster with tp, no issues, and smoking castle.

Ha, I can’t say the same as I have burnt up three 1717 /1650kv motors on 8s speed gearing and bash gearing , got one on the way and sending a new burnt out one today, ran it on stock felony with 16 t pinion and she fried! 😂

@Bob Sanchez - I can't believe that, I have one of the first motors that come out and after over 25 speed runs the motor is still going strong, I do take it apart after a few speeds runs to clean it and I have change the bearings once. Good luck and hopefully CC sends you better quality motors. What ESC are you using?

Don’t sound right… either it’s an eBay replica or your motor timing is all the way advanced or the mesh is too tight or you just don’t have a fan at all and you’re running it in a fully wide open area where you can full throttle it and beat on it. If Kevin Talbot hasn’t blown a 1717 “yet” lol, then you might be doing something different from what everyone else is doing with the 1717. Innovation rc takes his cars to 150mph 3 times in a row in his videos and they don’t exceed 120 degrees F.

In general TP and Castle are good motors, consider a good fan. Just make sure you get the right one for your application and gear it correctly.

Tp motor D turns?? Y turns timing 10 D wind time 0 and then look temp much better and motor deliver! 👍🏼

Tp power website shows a 4050 with 1700kv has a max 30 volts.

@@rubenaycojr3494 - I did the upgrade on one of the ESC and tested the motor on 6s and it was slightly better, no speed run and still needs a fan! You are better off with the 1717 sensored for sure. Good luck!
