Arrma Outcast 6s "Dirt and Vert" with Proline Pro MT 4x4 and Outcast Hybrid

This is a 3 run compilation of recent outings. Had a short bash at the bigger jump park before my BLX185 ESC lost throttle. Tried doing a factory reset and recalibration with no luck. Time for another warranty claim...Lol. Have since plopped in a Hobbywing Max8 for extra kick with the Nero motor. RC DUDE81 thanks so much brother 😉!!! That park is pretty sick for big jumps and just plain rippin around 👊. Hope the weeds die off cuz the poor Outcast was snagging up 😨. I've broken front chassis support bolts at the top plate several times. If you put it in a vise and drill carefully with a 1/8" bit, you can drill out the bolt. Not sure about the Voltage one's, but I drilled my HR ones for 4M bolts and run them up from under the top plate and 4M nylon nut on top. Didn't bother to tap and thread the chassis support. It's Friggin solid now👊. That one kid at the skatepark was getting so pumped it was hilarious 😂. Good times my friend!!!🍻🙋🙋😨😨😨😎💪💪💪👊👊

Hey Rich what are the first couple things I should upgrade on my outcast? I ended up using a blx 2050kv motor with 150a Dynamite esc (don't really like esc much but will do for now) and I'm mainly running 6s with 12t pinion. Should I change the pinion also?

john hoover I always recommend some aluminum chassis supports and servo mount. Voltage Hobbies would be my first choice. Also either an RPM or Tbone bumper and an RPM rear skid plate. The other mods are up to you. If your roller is a V3, you already have 4mm shocks with nice springs. Voltage towers and steering plate are also great upgrades if you plan on doing harder bashing or bigger jumps. I generally upgrade as I break or bend badly most times. Stock may be just fine, just depends. If your breaking A arms, RPM ones are another worthy upgrade.😎💪👊👊

I knew about the servo mount from watching your channel so I ordered that first thing and just ordered voltage hobbies front and rear skid plate set and may find a better wing mount as mine is bent already. Awesome video... A little suggestion.,if you keep messing up lipos. Get a separate low voltage alarm in have it plug in while you are bashing. If the voltage gets to low, means bye bye lipo. Haven't messed up a battery since. Hope this helps. Cheers....

Having split several hardcase packs this past year, I've come to the conclusion that my packs are getting damaged from impacts and shock trauma more than anything. I usually change packs before LVC and have just started running dense foam padding under them for shock absorption. So far so good. This time it was my BLX185 ESC that quit working. Sending back to Hobby Services for warranty 👊. I track my voltages closely and always balance charge. Might run an external LVC alarm just to compare, but my cells never drop below 3.4V with normal running. Happy bashing brother!!! 🙋🙋😲😲😲😵😎💪👊👊

I just can’t stop watching those jumps! Sick!! Out of curiosity, what are some safe temps on the stock Kraton motor? Just ran for about 15 min on 6S (using 2 x 3s 5200 50c packs) using a 15 tooth pinion and my temp on the back of my motor hit 196. I was NOT doing a whole lot of stopping and starting, just driving in a grass field at 3/4 throttle. I have heard (as far as in a Kraton) that as long as it stays under 200, it’s okay. But that seems pretty hot to me. Any comments and suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Terry S thanks so much brother 😂!!! It was time do a few senders...Lol 😨. I gear my rigs to about 150F for maximum efficiency. My comfort zone is 150-160 motor, 135ish ESC. 200F is too hot. Make sure your mesh isn't too tight and that your driveline and bearings seem ok. I normally run 16 tooth with stock electronics in the Outcast and Kraton, but do a fair amount of start and stop, too. Grass running can really push temps up depending on how tall and thick it is. Stock Kraton wheels are lighter, but heavier/bigger wheels play a huge role as well. You may need to drop a tooth on the pinion or allow some stop time if all else fails. 🙋🙋😨😨😨😎💪👊👊

Rich Duperbash ...well just to give an update, I stripped the Kraton apart and checked the gearing and all looked good. Cleaned and re-greased bearings. Brought it down to a 13 tooth pinion and bought a hobbywing heatsink / Fan combo for the motor. On 4S the motor was about 148 after a good run on grass. When I ran 6S it still reached 196 after a full battery run on grass (which is better then the 226 I got without the combo🤯) It just Seems like the stock motor doesn’t handle 6S very well when it comes to heat. And it’s geared more for 4S. I ordered some backflips to replace the stock tires and am hoping that helps bring down the temps a little more. But I may need to look into getting another motor for it that can handle the Heat. I live in Florida and it’s not even summer yet, so I am a little concerned I won’t be able to ever run it on 6S during the summertime. Unless I give it a cool down time every 5 or 10 min. Any other suggestions? And if I should replace the motor for one that runs cooler on 6S, what would you recommend. Sorry for the long message. Thanks as always.

Terry S the stock motor typically can handle 6s without going into thermal. Make sure your packs are at least 40C discharge rated, preferably 50-100C, and connections are all good. You could consider a lower KV motor for better efficiency. Usually lose some top speed, but gain in torque and quick burst grunt. They can be geared taller to compensate for speed. That said, 2000kv is a great all around motor for most 1/8th rigs. Grass running puts lots of load on rigs, draws more amps, creates more heat. 😎💪👊👊

Awesome vid of short sweet bashes at different spots...I like that:) Good lord you were getting huge Vert and Air at the "jump" park! Sucks about the battery issues...That's one of the disadvantages of running a single 6s brick; if something goes wrong you are dead in the water, if you are running 2-3s packs usually it will only be one pack that has an issue...so I've heard...I've yet to run single 6s packs though I've been wanting too, but seeing your issues has me thinking twice about it. BTW you were a mad man on those gravel piles : 0 Bash on Rich:)

Factor reset did nothing and won't recalibrate. The set button does nothing now. Sending in for warranty 😬. Put the full Nero combo in for next time😱. I still think single packs are the best scenario. Less wire and connectors equals less resistance and less hassle. I found it's cheaper overall, too. Dual packs should have the same # or cycles on them so replacing one means pairing it with another that likely has increased IR or internal resistance. It's doable obviously, just not my preferred way of running. The 4s sized 6s packs also help keep total weight down considerably depending on pack selection. You have me seriously itching to find a good construction site brother 😵!!! Really is my favorite terrain. Guess I'll keep searching.🍻🙋🙋😨😨😨😵😎💪💪💪👊👊

It's pretty tough bone stock. Only mods I've done are the "steering slop mod" I did a video on a few weeks back and the adding the RC8T hex extenders to widen the stance. Still running 70 weight front and 80 weight rear shock oils, 100/1 million/50K diff fluids front to back. Primarology thanks brother 👊!!! Think my BLX185 ESC crapped out 🤔. I fully trouble shooted it and it isn't responding. Sending it out for warranty this weekend. Dropped in a Nero ESC to pair with my Nero motor 😱. MORE POWER 😨...Lol. The trick to keeping the wheels dry is simply venting them. I cover my rim holes with a small piece of Gorilla tape and drill 2 similar sized holes 180° apart in each tire using 3/16" sharpened brass tubing chucked in a drill. Any dirt or water that gets in gets flung right back out after the first hard throttle rip. I do this for all my basher tires. It greatly assists with keeping wheels balanced and extending their life. Helps with ballooning also. 🙋🙋😨😨😨😵😎💪👊👊

Mike Tye I LOVE the Shockwaves. They're lighter and way more forgiving for hard landings. Easier on electronics. Allow for good chassis slap with a slightly lower stance. I'm not knocking the 40 Series one bit. Just think they're better suited on the longer Kraton personally. 😎💪👊👊

Wow I know how it is to have a string of bad luck rich. The rigs are looking good though! How do you like the Nero motor in your outcast? Any more power than the 185 motor?

J Ho RC thanks brother 👊. Yeah bad luck sucks...Lol. I guess it hits all of us from time to time 😨. The Nero motor definitely has more kick, but the timing has always seemed off to me when paired with the BLX185 ESC. Been running it mismatched for about a year I think. It has more torque, but the throttle to brake has always seemed rough even when programmed. Much better to pair it with the BLX200/Hobbywing Max8 ESC. The full Nero combo has much more power with smooth delivery. It was great in the Kraton before I submerged it...Lol. Going to try it in the Outcast next bash when the rain stops.🤘🤘😵😵😵😎💪👊👊

ABC KID RC thanks so much my friend 😂!!! I tried to launch her as far as possible with the speed I could get 😨. They built the jumps up, but they're all packed together quite tightly. That last part was the Proline Pro MT 4x4. My Tekno is on the bench getting a deep clean and full rebuild. Long overdue. 🍻🤘🤘😵😵😵😎💪👊👊

Cool video man you bash so hard. I took my et48.3 and promt4x4 to dirt track with my kids in gf. I just let them drive them but the tekno never breaks but the pro mt broke within firist 5 min. I didn't see what they did but just heard my gf say that my boy needed me so I asked him whats wrong and pro wasn't turning so I looked in the servo saver arm broke. So I put it in my car to fix for next weekend! Like a month later part still not in stock anywhere and says late april now early may so it's been out of commission for 2 months this was only second run with it. On first run I lost a aluminum circle piece that sets inside front hubs and also 2 sway bar ball cups and lastly blew out a savox steering servo! I did do the mod with the associated wideners before it was ever ran. I wish I would check the aluminum circle that set inside the hubs that was like a 20 dollar part. I also think the steering feels tight? IDK why but those aluminum circle in hubs if they are cranked down its binds up more but I dont want too loose another piece! Hopefully I get it rolling again with no issues. Or I may sell it and just stick too my teknos.

Eric Dunlap thanks brother. This Proline has a few issues as a new release no doubt. My first servo saver arm broke before I had any wrecks or hard bashing. It fits the post too tightly. I sanded the inner plastic barrel and put marine grease on the post and haven't had any more issues. Proline redesigned the original part. Also put one layer of plumber's tape on the threads of the pillow ball nuts. Proline is well aware of the issues and is trying to rectify them. I've been told they'll send you free replacement parts if you contact them and simply email a picture. To me the rig is fun enough to keep around and enjoy. But that's a personal choice of course. I was pretty frustrated with it early on to say the least. That said, it can take more overall than any 1/10 scale I've owned. 🍻🤘🤘😎💪👊👊

RC RIDER I have one 4s pack that's lasted over 2 years, but it gets less use overall. It's a Dynamite Reaction 5000mah 50c hard pack. It's been through some skatepark insanity 😱. Some packs have died early deaths...Lol. 😂

Rene Granda if your front center driveshaft is still spinning, your front input cup grub screw probably came loose. I'd check that first. The diffs are easy access if you need to pull them out though. If the front driveshaft isn't spinning, you may have busted a center diff planetary gear and or set pin.🤔😎💪👊👊

Rene Granda just reread your reply and changed mine...Lol😨!!! I'm thinking it's your center diff. You probably broke the forward facing planetary gear and/or set pin. I'd remove the motor/center diff from the truck, detach the center diff and turn the cups by hand. If they don't both turn smoothly and equally, pull the diff apart and inspect. 😎💪👊👊

Nice bashes brother!! Did you have to edit out a cuss word at the end there? Those were some huge launches at the skate park and the sound from the wheels going up the bowl was sick! I almost thought you were going to start flipping off the FOZ...:) Those ESC's (all ESC's) can only take so many shocks from landings before they crack some solder joints. Looks like it will still be a minute before I get back to bashing. We are supposed to get 4 more inches of snow tomorrow. I'll be in the warm weather of Mexico City on Saturday for a week. No RC's though... I hope you and the fam are happy and healthy!

Ready Set RC thanks SO much brother 😂!!! Didn't get much run time again with the Outcast, but it was FUN regardless 👊.The chassis support bolt broke in half and fell out from the chassis bottom 😱. Forgot that happened once before with my Kraton while bashing with Gary from KORH awhile back. Had to straighten my chassis later at home. Yeah the ESC was a bummer 😬. Decided to put in a Max8 to pair with the BLX200 Nero motor and she's feeling stronger than ever!!! Can't wait to try her out in the dirt again. Happy bashing brother. 🤘🤘😵😵😵😵😲😎💪👊👊

That was my Outcast/Typhon Hybrid. It's basically an Outcast with lighter Typhon body, mounts, and mudguards. It cuts through the air nicely. Started as a Typhon and added the Outcast/Kraton arms, links, shocks...etc. 😎💪👊👊

Donkey Commander this spot is a city operated "no RCs" BMX jump track. Every visit is a legit sneaker run. Been booted out by park staff before. It sucks especially if no bikers are using the track and you're asked to leave. I still don't get it🤔. These aren't 30 lb gas rigs tearing up the jumps. If I had land and a tractor I'd build my own fantasy bashland in a heartbeat. 🙋🙋😨😨😨😵😎💪👊👊

Hey, at least you have a "No RC" track to sneak in to ;) Only track I know of in my city is a concrete one with metal rails etc lol.. Need to be an expert driver if you wanna bash at a site like THAT I tell ya.. But there are lots of parks and smaller areas around I can go to :) Currently saving up for an outcast! Gonna get some RPM parts on it and maybe upgrade the ESC eventually 😎
