The Rlaarlo (along with the wltoys and all the others based on this chassis) is a clone of LC racing 1/14 scale. Much higher quality, better parts overall, brushless, all metal drivetrain with sealed diffs, slipper clutch, hex hardware, 3s capable and programmable hobbywing ESC, parts availability in the US from a couple reputable vendors, along with some upgrade parts, true hobby grade. They are some of the best handling RC's I've ever driven. Sure they cost a little more but you get a much better overall product. Seems like the "Grom killer" has already been out for many years now, Arrma just now catching up. That being said I love Arrma and would like to have a Typhon and Mohave Grom to check out and compare to my LC racing SCT and buggy. Nice video man keep up the great work! Enjoy your content.

@@drewnewcomb2909 thanks for watching! I have a few LC racing buggies and agree they are better quality than both. But for this price point I think Arrma has some winners here for sure. Especially with part availability and upgrades

The Rlaarlo is great. My wife got it for me as a gift for my 29th birthday and it was my first RC. Its a blast to drive and i drive hard. Have only broken one part in a year. I want the Grom but for the price the Rlaarlo is such a great starter car.
@the_way333Ай бұрын
Most of your critique of the Rlaarlo is a setup issue. The parts availability in stores for the Arrma is a major plus though

Great job comparing these 2 RC's. I noticed that you said the grom was 1/14th scale. The spec sheet from Arrma indicates that it's an 1/18 scale. Perhaps it's a typo? I do agree that the Typhon grom is very stable and great off jumps. It just needs a bit more punch.
@413RC4 ай бұрын
It is weird they call it a 1/18 scale. Thanks for the kind words and I do agree it needs a little more punch but that can be easily upgraded
@RCRoads4 ай бұрын
@@413RC I'm not real well versed on RC's but I only mentioned it because I did a video and called it an 1/18th scale. Your presentation and coverage of the Grom was much better than mine. It's a super RC for the price. Clear bodies are very reasonable as are tires and shocks. Upgrades for most cars can run 3 to 4 times more than the original cost of the car so I give it 5 stars because it's much less than outfitting a 3s or 6s Typhon but then again it wont go places the 1/8 scale Typhon can.

Great comparison! I’m guessing the larger heavier motor in the Rlaarlo is a factor in the poorer handling on the track. For straight line speed, I’m taking the the Rlaarlo myself.

Plastic isn't always a bad thing, most of the time it's more durable depending on the blend of nylon they use. Aluminum chassis and towers can bend where a plastic chassis and towers will spring back into shape under most circumstances. My only complaints with the Arma Groms are the lack of adjustments out of the box and the plastic axle molding inconsistencies that can cause one wheel to bind up more than the others because it's making the bearings fight each in the knuckles in turn causing the car to pull.

This isn't just any cheap plastic. Arrma has made a science of the plastics engineering, true modular design and more. It's a different concept.

I’m not sure I completely agree with you there. I’ve had my Arrma Grom truck three weeks and I’ve had to replace both diffs because of breaking as well as two cvd’s. Also my truck will never go exactly straight even after adjusting the trim. Not sure exactly why yet. That being said I love my Grom. Just have to be prepared to replace parts.

Btw great comparison video here.
@robertgoldsmith594915 күн бұрын
@@MrMnewman1 thanks. Sorry that happened to you. I think I preemptively upgraded my diffs because I knew I was going to upgrade the power. Wow! The power is sure upgraded from about 22 mph to 53 and climbing. That's a real hot rod and, despite the fact, they claim special technology to keep their motor cool without fans, it just felt awfully hot to me so another user here recommended I get a bigger castle motor. I broke the pin or shaft on it and had sent it back to castle for replacement when they told me on the phone that for $61 I could upgrade to the bigger motor which, its owner tells me runs cooler and is more appropriate somehow. so I filled out the form at Castle and we'll see what happens. are you saying you damaged the differentials on the original power scheme? 22 mph? On that car, I haven't had anything from Arrma to fail, but I wasn't driving at all that hard at 22 mph max.
