The Birds of Prey TV show deserves more attention, had an excellent cast, interesting stories, and a lot of unused potential. It was WB's attempt to create a TV universe centered around Smallville.

I think there's yet to be a perfect live-action adaptation of Black Canary. Sarah was the best Arrow Black Canary in my opinion, but she was an original character, and then things sort of got messed around a lot with other versions of the character. I have to admit though that the DCEU version was better than expected. Also, Huntress really should have had more of an arc in Arrow, it's weird how she was dropped after season two. She would have been perfect for season six, with Oliver managing to turn her into a hero. You'd think they'd have brought her back at some point. Same with Wild Cat.

I'm not familiar with DCEU's version of Huntress. As far as CW's Huntress goes? Maybe she was young and unseasoned. Maybe she had bad direction. I don't know. It just wasn't a great performance. Very sleepish and dull. I think her biggest problem was probably that she didn't have complete grasp of an American accent so she spoke really low alot and whispering most of her lines to keep from slipping into her natural accent or to keep people from noticing any slips. But constantly doing that affected her delivery.

Sorry, I think Sara is the best “canary” of the entire arrowverse and maybe the best female character of the entire universe. Though for comparison the “earth 2 laurel” is the most “comparable” for the original if the character of black canary vs the DCEU. But also there’s barely anything to compare to in DCEU as you have years with laurel vs maybe less than an hour with the character in the movie

DEATHSTROKE What I hate is that Flash and Supergirl literally have killed people and they just didn’t acknowledge it. In s1 Supergirl won a heat vision battle against non and we never saw him again so I’m assuming he’s dead, in s2 she pressed the button that released the lead in the air and killed Mon El’s mom, forgot what season but she also gave parasite the power source that made him explode. Flash killed atom smasher and during crisis on earth x he directed a gun at a nazi. They have killed people but then they go on a little speech about how they’ll never kill a few episodes later. At least supergirl recently admitted she thought she killed Lex even though she technically didn’t. I feel that’s a step in the right direction.

There are two ways to fix BOP 1. Make it a GSC movie and just have Harley relate more to her costars 2. Take Harley away and make Huntress the main character and have her go through gotham's underworld searching for revenge, while she encounters the others and through them and their more fleshed out backstories she sees beyond her desire for revenge and along with her new found allies/friends decides to fight for the city and not just her personal revenge.

Technically the CW doesn't even have a Black Canary. They only have analogues. Their Laurel wasn't a proper Black Canary. Had the courage and the heart but not the skill set. Their second Laurel was a doppleganger who only resembles the comic version in skill set and not the morality. They have worked to try to make her more like Black Canary but at the end of the day she's still a Doppleganger they're using to replace the other one who didn't stack up in terms of skill and still not the actual Black Canary. Her being a doppleganger with no connection to the world she lived in or the characters she interacted with makes her not a proper Black Canary. And on top of it all neither one was ever even referred to as Dinah at all. The Dinah they got was just someone with a similar name. And they had a Sarah who was an original character created for the show who was a precursor to Laurel's Black Canary. But there was never an actual Dinah Laurel Lance/Dinah Drake Lance Black Canary completely accurate to the comics in personality and skill set. Smallville had a proper Black Canary I believe.

My opinion: Do NOT compare characters from a series of TV shows to a movie universe. There is a drastic difference in the amount of screen time a character is fleshed out. It doesn't matter how many incarnations of the Canary there is, each one had way more to be fleshed out than the amount of time Jurnee Smollett-Bell had in Birds of Prey. These comparisons are stupid because with the cw versions, you have years of story arcs and character development to draw from. The DCEU versions only have 1 or 2 films to draw from. Like you mentioned the costumes in the BOP film. Non of the characters in that movie were wearing "superhero suits". So to compare what was essentially, civilian outfits to the CW's fully realized superhero outfits is an unfair comparison. Just like you only have a total of about 40mins of screentime, spread over 3 films for the DCEU's Lois, you've gotten CW's Lois getting more time over more episodes and multiple stories. Again, not really comparable. I enjoy both the Arrowverse and the DCEU as (in my mind) they're both just 1 of an infinite number of versions of those characters. Doing the same exact thing but with different actors over and over again, is boring, lazy and just not entertaining.

The flash turns sue dibny into its own catwoman/ cbr. The Arrowverse can't keep its timelines straight/ cbr. Arrowverse: fans are losing their minds over this crisis on infinite earths. Cameo once in while, arguments commence about which actor better played an laconic superhero on the big screen or TV. Ezra Miller's big screen version is better than the grant Gustin version on the cw. The flash of life of the flash. Crisis on infinite earths, the 12- issue maximizes by marv wolfman and George per-z restarted DC continuity by merging its myriad of timelines down to at least one coherent ( they hope) earth.

Jurnee a miscast? Hell no. She was great in that role and proved how much she cared for the character. Watch the interviews she’s in, she mentions how much she studied black canary. She was absolutely perfect. If you think she’s miscast please explain why? Don’t let your argument be looks because it took arrow forever to get a solid looking black canary costume yet they still under utilized the character. DCEU Dinah doesn’t use the cry that much because she hasn’t learned to control it, and it’s extremely tiring for her. Besides that she’s a great h2h fighter and has that badass + fun personality Dinah should always have. If Katie/Juliana were given better opportunities then I’m sure they could’ve been greater than what we got from the arrowverse, but now, Jurnee is the best onscreen Black Canary.

DCEU did it better because in arrowverse huntress turned into a villian instead of a hero and black canary is actually meta human not some girl with a Sonic device. Marvel's agent of shield doesn't have a big budget less than arrow or flash and still is the best comic book TV show Budget doesn't say anything, So doesn't comic accurate besides that Arrow Oliver and Felicity isn't comic accurate she doesn't exists, green arrow the best DC fighter isn't comic accurate, Thea being speedy not comic accurate hell she didn't even exists Supergirl doesn't die in crisis isn't comic accurate, Jimmy/James Olsen being black isn't comic accurate, Martian manhunter weaker than a kryptonian isn't comic accurate Flash, the whole West family being black not comic accurate, the speed force existing since before Dawn of time not really comic accurat Batwoman Kate Kane being Bruce Wayne's cousin and being a lesbian, isn't comic accurate I could come with 100other not comic accurate things And AOS has much better action scene's,Better storylines,better writen characters But I agree with other Marvel show's
