Look I like John Stewart he’s awesome but Hal is my favourite Green Lantern and I just don’t know about casting an older actor This has me worried that James is gonna make Barry Allen and Oliver Queen older as well

They’re casting him old because they’re doing Parallax, and to use as an excuse to do movies in the past to explain more Lanterns lore so both Hal and Jon’s story can be told concurrently.

What’s stopping them from telling any of these characters that’s stories are already unfolded in the dcu with prequel series/movies. Like I expect to very much see dicks story in full through the dcu even if he is nightwing already. We could see Hal’s green lantern story without being hampered by the other characters tying down the green lantern lore

I don’t completely agree with your assessment. It’s seems to me that they are trying to pass the torch to Jon Stewart. And also remember that Hal Literally is older in the comics (New 52 aside). During the whole Paralax saga he was obviously wisened and older, with gray hair to boot. It also strikes me that you’re making sweeping judgments ability to play the roll without watching his body of work. What he did on Friday night lights has big Hal Jordan Energy (although he’s not as jerky) and his arc on Gray’s Anatomy will leave you shook. Check that out and then see if you want to change your mind

Hal Jordan will be dead by the end of S1. Whether or not it will be meaningful and respectful to the character is the question.

I started reading comics about the time Blackest Night started so I got into all the Green Lantern stuff during the Hal Jordan renaissance and I’m a big fan of his. But I’m not gonna sit hear and say that the eventual Green Lantern movie has to star Hal over John, Guy, or Kyle to be good. The other 3 are all capable of carrying a film so if Hal isn’t present much in this DC universe, so be it. I’m sure the movies will be rebooted and we’ll have another chance to see Hal star in a movie in a decade or two.

I don't like this. It feels like deliberately making Hal older just so John can be the main green lantern. Why pit them against ewch other. The right wing sjw's are just going to blame John gor Hal being an older and likely only in 1 season. Why not just cast 2 20-something or 30-something actors to be Hal and John to make them a cool duo. If Hal just becomes Parallax...then DC is just trolling us fans at this point.

Best case scenario is they make Hal the greatest GL that carries the first season on his back n becomes parallax in season 2 then becomes the spectre of the DCU onwards, gives respect to his character while sticking to source material n is a good excuse on why he’d stick around at an older age
