It’s a real shame we didn’t build on from this. This should have been the springboard for building a team capable of challenging and perhaps winning the league within the next year or two. We went for Sanchez who was a fantastic purchase but then only could follow it up with a mediocre Danny Welbeck, Ospina who was quickly usurped by Cech, Calum Chambers who was never good enough and Bielik who is now plying his trade in League One. We’re always the bridesmaids.

@@MalcolmTann0 Ridiculous. He won trophies in his final few years... Emery and Arteta meanwhile have failed with better squads in parts.

So many ridiculous comments I'm resding about the aftermath of this game. If you think Wenger didn't deserve a new contract, then you're a hindsight based idiot.

We had gone 10 years without winning the title, that season alone we conceded 6 at City, 6 at Chelsea, 5 at Liverpool and 3 at Everton, as well as being knocked out in the last 16 of the CL again after the first leg. Wenger should of rode off into the sunset after that game, its the worst kept secret in Football that Arsenal were talking to Guardiola to come in that summer and he was very interested in the move. Wengers stubbornness kept him on
