Wouldn't swap Zinchenko with anyone in the league. Immense player. Technical ability, experience (won 4 pl titles), composure, incredibly good at reading the game, knowing when to push with the ball, when to cut in, when to pass it back, when to just keep it, and on top of that plays with his heart on his sleeve. Can't find a replacement for him man. What a player he has been for us. ❤

In fairness to tv pundits, they have to speak about games immediately after they finish and don't have the time JJ does to re-watch the game and analyse the tactics in such depth. That said, they often spout utter rubbish and I'm very thankful Tifo exists! But it's unreasonable imo to expect tactical analysis like this straight after a game
@r3zaful
@r3zaful Жыл бұрын
@@cynshie honestly, there's a reason why player manager doesn't work 90% of the time, there specialized teams from analysts, tactical coach, technical director and to the top of the hierarchy, the manager. If they can't synergies, the players will guaranteed underperform, even with the best talents available.
@funkrates4778

Even if they had the time do analyze the game, they wouldn't present it in this way, which such depth and insight. They need to reach a wider audience, and this is more for those who like the detailed, intellectual aspect of football.

They're like City but without the fear of playing a risky pass/move/press that Guardiola players always seem to have. Like a more "free" version of City. They are very similar tactically but the personality of each team is totally different. They also remind me of Bayern 2020, not tactically, but the physicality of the team is remarkable, they seem unstoppable.

"Whether Arteta came up with it or Guardiola, don't know, starting to wonder" !!!!!! Since Arteta was hired he's been spoken about extremely highly by Pep, Klopp, Mourinho, players who played for him either at City or Arsenal, and even guys like Guillem Ballague -- and people didn't give that a ton of weight because the results weren't consistently validating the process and tactics. But I think we've got the next super coach on our hands here, it's so exciting watching everything come together for him now. I'm loving it.

This game was hard to watch for me!! I was so nervous from start to finish as an Arsenal supporter. I honestly thought it was gonna be a draw because we were having a hard time finding the final balls but when Nketiah scored I lost it man what a time to be an Arsenal fan after everything we've gone through. I want the title of course but I'm just enjoying the ride and I'm happy we're shaping up to be back at the top where we belong. A return to the Champions League alone honestly means a lot for the progress. We might be able to make some really exciting signings in the summer.

I jokingly said to my dad that we were watching the title winners live, and as every game passes it looks more and more possible. The technical ability is incredible and the way they control games is just a joy to watch. I've read somewhere on reddit that Arteta's tactic right now is what cruyff would've preferred than guardiola. When pep transitioned to false 9 system because he didn't have a striker, he didn't really need to use fast wingers to win matches. Now that he bought his striker, it was a mistake to not replace sane and sterling. Guardiola doesn't like to keep players who want to move out but he could have at least replaced them.

The difference here is that Arteta allows arsenal to sit back concede possession in order to speed up recovery, they essentially get 15 mins off warming down and then 15 mins of half time to fully rest knowing they can come out in the second half guns blazing and aggressive. Obviously this tactic can be used in other parts of the game. I.e. getting 2 goals early and sitting back and playing counter football giving our attackers a rest.

5:20 - or do they try and consolidate and reach halftime with the score as it stands. Almost like they're waiting for the tactical changes and one-on-one coaching Arteta is becoming known for to be done at the break (and during the rapid games 2 years ago was being done in the frequent on-field breaks). Hence the big spike after the break. Loving it, but can't imagine Arteta doesn't burn himself out in a few years. I see the value in the recent coaching recruitment.

Is there a metric for expected turnover per pass or take on? I feel like especially in the second half, Arsenal's plan revolved around making passes/runs with a high xA and only going for goal in high xG situations, but most of all limiting the xTO for everything they did

Hey Mythe66 - can you help a newbie out here? I kind of know xG from Fantasy PL (although not sure how it’s calculated) but what is xA and xTO? I’ve watched football for 40 years and am good enough at eye tests and structure, but these formula I’m struggling with. Any help or directions to sites appreciated.

@@Shelsight Hiya! Happy to! I don't know if xG is formulaic, I think it is more statistic. The xG of a shot looks at all the shots taken from a similar position/situation and how many have gone in. It takes that as a probably of the shot going in. xA is the same. It looks at all the passes/crosses made in a similar position/situation as a given pass/cross and takes the percentage of those passes/crosses turned into an assist as the probability of the pass/cross in question becoming an assist. With regards to Arsenal's play, I noticed they didn't do anything (pass, take on, shot) unless it had a low chance of being turned over (losing possession and having to defend), unless it had a very high xA/xG. You could call the former probability (an offensive action resulting in a turn over) the xTO, but it isn't a regularly used thing yet (I don't think)

ARS is getting better after every game, the only thing that worried me is conceding many goals especialy at Emirates were we should have the most clean sheets.I thing our goal keeper and defenders should take this seriously.Weeks ago ARS was the best defensive team just similar to New castle but the margin is getting wider after Ramsdale failed to clear out some easy balls against Brighton and Man United Games.

This Arsenal side doesn't seem super solid defensively, but they have a desire to win and to play to the last second that I think no other team in the Premier has, I hope they win the title this year and that they can hold on to their key players so they can keep building on this magnificent project.

You cannot play both attacking and defensively, same way as it’s hard to be a centrist. Fundamentally you must be one or the other

There are no weak links in this team. Sure anyone is open to human error, but there's no one I look at that I automatically think he looks lost. Also the intelligence of most of the squad really helps everyone stay on the same page and get those results.
