Arteta did the same thing to Martinelli, Saliba regarding their development. Martinelli was always on the bench while fans all over were asking for him to start. Nwaneri's time will come , just like Saliba's time came and we never complain about how Arteta waits for the right time. Player development is also an aspect of management.

@DJ_Dre.P The development of a defender and a striker are a bit different, whereas a striker can come in at dying minutes of a game to gain exposure, A defender cannot do this becausee you rarely bring in a young defender to learn in- game, so a defender would more likely go on loan to a side he will play regularly. That was the case with Martinelli and Saliba.

Why would Guler not work? City has Silva, Foden, KDB, Gündoğan.... all different, but also quite similar. We need attackers, I think.... Arteta/Arsenal is thinking along those lines. Neat and tidy attacking ballers that can be rotated and can control/impact games. A smart decision in my opinion, if it is the case that Arsenal is interested.

But Guler doesn't play LW, he mainly plays as an AM or RW. Arteta almost exclusively plays inverted wingers so if he was to come in I would expect him to be a back up to Odegaard and Saka more than anything.

Ethan has played more minutes than Saka had at the same age- so yes he gets enough will likely play more in the 2nd half of the season than the 1st half. He's only 17 and needs integrating slowly- we do not want a repeat of what happened to Wilshire because he played too much too young.

I would be happy for Guler to come! I would see him as back up to Saka with the flexibility to cover Ode, a job that Nwaneri isnt yet trusted with. We havent had a good back up to Saka and I am not happy that he plays every minute of every game. in the next 3 years i want Arsenal to be a team that has 2 players that are quality in every position, and hopefully by then the battle between ode and nwaneri + Saka and Guler will be top quality.

Nice watch Charles. I wouldn't be shocked if Madrid let Guler leave either on loan or on a permanent deal. It's not a new thing for them and won't make them any weaker. Robben, Robinho, Van De Vaart, Fabinho, Sneider, Morata, Hakimi, Theo Hernandez and so many more were all players Madrid sold for cheap who went on to achieve great things but didnt stop Madrid from being great either because they'll always be Madrid. Though on the evidence of how the Odegaard deal has turned out, i won't be surprised if they insert a buy-back clause in the case of Guler. Anyhow it goes, I hope Arsenal can be in a position to benefit if there's any deal to be done for him. P.S: A bit like De Bruyne, David Silva and Bernado Silva (not to mention even Foden too)... Arda Guler, Nwaneri and Odegaard can all play together or in place of each other in the same team if only Arteta's overly defensive mind will allow it.

Hi Charles, I disagree with your stance on not bringing more attacking power to Arsenal. If you look at any top team, there are at least two or three high-quality players competing for the same position. That level of competition is essential for success. Arsenal fans need to move beyond their attachment to homegrown players and embrace the reality of competition at the highest level. Football at the top is cutthroat, and if a player is not performing, you have to prioritize talent over sentimentality. Even when Ødegaard was unavailable, we couldn't rely on Ethan, highlighting the need for additional talent to step in and compete. Building depth is crucial for sustained success. I look at Bayern Real Barcelona City and see all teams have 18-19 years old ready to step up

I love Guler, but I would much rather get a killer striker like Isak than another #10, unless we get both. More than likely, Isak is impossible to get during January window, I get that. I also agree, that Nwaneri is as good as Guler and younger, he needs more playing time and I am sure he would quickly develop into world class footballer. Overtime, I have grown not to be excited about the return of Tierney, and in recent times Tomiyasu from injury because it's just a matter of when and not if, and they will be injured again which in the long run makes us look short of defensive supply when the renown starters get injured

Thinking about how important this weekend is against Forest, although I don’t believe it’s fully over just yet, realistically it’s going to be a real tough task to claw back the deficit we currently sit at. So in terms of the season hypothetically let’s just say we can’t win the league, what constitutes a successful season to you both? For me a real hard push at winning the CL and trying to improve on last year and I believe we have to win a minimum of one of the domestic cup competitions, would be lovely to have both, and finish in the top 3. And as for Forest this weekend, feel like Timber HAS to play RB behind Saka and he has to trust Zinny in this game with his on the ball qualities and passing, against a team that will sit off in a low block. Extra-Time: I have been an Arsenal supporter, since I was 9 years old. I recently turned 40. I was never on the #WengerOut side of things and I was never on the #ArtetaOut side of things, either. However, if Arteta brings in Arda Guler, there-by directly blocking Ethan Nwaneri's pathway into the first team and STILL does not bring in a top-tier striker like Gyokeres or Isak - he needs to go, if we fail to win a MAJOR trophy, this season. At the moment, that is not looking very likely. ESR, Nelson and Iwobi are all absolutely COOKING, at Fulham while our attack has been looking as blunt as a butter-knife. Enough is enough.

Extra time, I love Nwaneri and think he’s an amazing talent, however if we put hale end bias aside, I think Arda guler is definitely a better player than Nwaneri so even if he comes in and blocks nwaneris route to the first team, so be it? If we want to win we have to be ruthless, arteta has been ruthless in the past so I don’t see why we can’t get this done.

Arda Guler as good as it would be, would have the same issues at Arsenal. Clubs pushing hard to win trophies. Even Rice has come out and said that needs to be the minimum. After spending 40million on Merino I don’t think they will bench him in the hope Guler will be the right answer. I feel if there is another midfield signing in the winter it will be to add depth not to trial. We have players like Nwaneri and Lewis-Kelly who probably have already shown they should be getting more minutes yet don’t. As much as I would like Guler for me it’s definitely not going to happen

So, basically, younger players get better and older players get worse. So, my question is, how many of our young players are better this season than ladt. I would suggest none of them. Hey Charles. Saw that Trossard is about to be offered a new contract. He did perform well the previous two seasons and even this season he saved us against Villa. I'm not against Trossard signing a new contract just because he had some downs this season. He always had his ups and downs ever since he came but he is the only player we can call bench impact when being subbed on. He came in at a very reasonable price so Arsenal will feel it won't be a big issue to financial parts as well. Only thing that bothers me though is that whether Arsenal will continue with the LW depth of Martinelli and Trossard next season. There will and should be a genuine winger signing next season to put a serious challenge on either flank. Both Martinelli and Trossard are good players but i just don't see them winning us anything at this current form, especially Martinelli who already had a disastrous season last year. I think they have shown enough what they can do and it's pass their stage where they can develop more. We don't who we are gonna sign next summer on attacks but if the club fails to do any job at the attacking position, there should be serious questions on how the transfer plan and behind the scenes work had gone. I just can't imagine Arsenal going next season with the same exact depth in attacks.

For the "EXTRA TIME" show later: What do you think are the biggest differences in terms of playing style and what changed this season, compared to our run of 19 games (in 2022-23) and the end of last season? I think that the previous 2 seasons we played more attractively , we were scoring lots of goals , etc. Ever since our statistic for the goals from (corners, free kicks, etc.) came out, we almost didn't score a goal from a set-piece situation. We all know the problems with injuries & suspensions this season, but I still think our game looks like it's not finally settled. It's almost like we see random peaces from different puzzles.
