Honestly u have become the arsenal therapist and its much much needed, I was literally typing in the analogy of city and liverpool losing their entire back lines, the standards we are being put against are crazy. Aren't we like on the same points total as last season at the same time? Again WITH THE CONTEXT of this years fixtures to last its incredible actually. With an easier December and tough fixtures picking up in April we are on course of repeating if not beating last seasons point tally. Thanks for the videos honestly, this period of weaker arsenal form came right during my exam week if I didn't need more things to stress about.

I like that u are a cool-headed and rational guy who always tries his best to not go overboard and also at the end of the day i agree with your conclusion. But i think that talking about most of these things is just "pointless". We are the best team in the league, tactically and pound for pound, its that simple. We were better than pool even with serious personel misses and everyone else we have played this season. We were already there last year but this season we evolved into an even better team. We can maybe talk about injuries bcs it is an important factor but at the end of the day we have no idea what to do with that. Arsenal did what they could, the depth is there (I also believe that zinchenko might still be injured). I dont think that saying 'well we have a lot of injuries and wait for them to come back' is a real conversation, its just obvious. The recurring theme that defies this season for Arsenal is that we get refereed differently as other teams. In the last 2 years i have watched this bias and disgusting decisions become gradually more and more blatant. And i dont want to talk about it being a conscious/unconscious bias, corruption of whatever, because it just doesnt matter. We will never find out or know for sure and cant do anything with the reasons behind it. What we do know, after the start of this season, for sure is that the refereeing puts us at a genuine disadvantage in the title race. I really dont like the word cheating but it actually might apply here. Decisions are being given against that are literally never given against anyone else. Rules being twisted and applied in a way that they can use it to fuck us over again and again. You can say that they are just that incompetent and inconsistent and you might be right. But also there is an another idea which i find much more suitable; If you create an environment where inconsistency and uncompetency becomes an everyday and standard thing, where people accept it as normal, influencing certain events becomes a really easy thing to do. I was skeptical at first and even last season. No shit tbh, the just world cognitive bias is not a made up thing. But what they have done already this season, i cant really walk past it and say that there is no connection. And i think it will just continue like it began, maybe even getting worse. And in that case your team can be as good as it gets but you still wont win the title, especially when your title rival gets the eact opposite treatment from the refs.

Ever since Arteta blasted the refereeing at Newcastle last year the referees have made a series of interesting calls against Arsenal. There was no foul in that entire sequence.

The moment our entire 1st choice backline got/was forced to switch: i knew instantly that was the way back in for liverpool to end up in a draw. True enough, happened minutes later. I feel this has been a recurring issue for us when the gap in defensive discipline and quality between 1st and 2nd choice setup is still annoyingly distinct and any small lapse in focus will punish us gravely. Other than that, certainly agree we would have won had we been able to keep the backline the same as it was.

I definitely agree with your viewpoint on the unavailability of players. Remember what happened to Liverpool when they had the centre back injury crisis the season after they won the Premier League? They barely scrapped a top 4 finish at the end. For the argument about City winning games despite losing their best players, it's also really simple in that they're injuries are spread out in different players playing different positions. When KDB is injured, they still have the likes Foden, Gundogan, Bernardo, Grealish etc. Now imagine if City lost KDB & also couldn't rely on said other players in that midfield because they're all injured too. Wouldn't they have also collapsed? It's really that simple.

First rate, levelheaded analysis-thank you. We could be further off the pace given the injuries, red card nonsense, etc. I feel these adversities will actually galvanize the team and improve the mental toughness required to win the league. As far as the referee situation, regardless of one's belief about conspiracy theories, it is now clear that different standards are applied to Arsenal which means we face 12 men per match, not 11. This will require extra effort to avoid more silly reds and 50/50 situations that won't be going our way. Cheers.

Only solution is to have more than one referee organisations which compete against each other on least mistakes, the best referee organisations get the best games and therefore better pay. People have said it couldn't work, but doesn't this happen in the World cup and Euros/Latin/African/Asian cups. Will not happen though the FA are too busy trying to give the referee's every protection instead of treating them like people and understanding that people make mistakes and competition forces referees to possibly work on improving their skills. Alternatively I would just put overlays in VAR so the team doesn't know which team they are reviewing. Currently so many people are complaining but not looking at how this could be improved.

@@alexprach I agree, every time I watch another tournament, whether it’s UCL, Afcon, Copa, Euros, there’s never really any crazy referee decisions. If so it’s one or two throughout the entirety, but in the prem it’s every single week they got something wrong, it’s so strange.
@alexprach
@alexprach 22 күн бұрын
@@makei89 If it were me just divide the referees into two or three organisations, and also divide their resources (e.g. VAR), and just have a league table where they get negatives points for number of card mistakes (-4 for yellows and -6 for reds) and points for number of correct card decisions (+3 for yellows, +5 for reds) and probably points for things like letting the game run quicker (+1 for play ons) and lose some points for having games interupted unnecessarily due to subjective fouls (-1 point for 50:50s) when it should only be objective fouls. Of course you'd need to adjust it and would be great if this was fully transparent, so the public could see. The problem may arise where referees don't like the groups they're put in though, but it should be randomly assigned and let them organise themselves, otherwise you'll either have a north south divide or elite noob divide or honest corrupt divide (Where the corrupt referees just don't care whether they do well or not just so long as their team or bank balance fair well). We could even have referee of the month to highlight the most consistent refs.

The PGMOL is very obviously corrupt, at this point there is no other way to explain the decisions they make. Incompetence is something that is allowed to flourish under corruption as you are not trying to get the best results possible nor hire the best people for the job. If the PGMOL truly wanted to improve the standard of officiating in the prem they would hire foreign refs, thus attempting to get the best people for the job. In a league where most players are foreign most managers are foreign and most owners are foreign why would foreign refs not also be used? The obvious answer is corruption, the refs they have currently are all in on the fix and any others they bring through are vetted and selected to tow the line. The other obvious change they would make if not corrupt would be to mic the refs so we can all hear their communication especially with VAR, this would allow for transparency of their decision making. Both of these things are simple changes other sports have adopted to improve their standard of officiating, the reason the PGMOL does not implement these changes is for one simple and obvious reason, THEY ARE CORRUPT.

We didn't push on in the second half. We lost the initialtive. It's almost as if, leading by one single goal is good enough - so now let's just defend. We are playing smart, too smart imo. Instead let's keep it simple. 1-0, we target 2-0, then 3-0. Maybe after 3-0 we stop. But when we are leading 2-1, we should not stop pushing on. Atleast make it 3-1. Most importantly when we score more goals, the more demoralized our opponents feel. The referee issues will be there in the future. That is why we must create atleast 2 goal buffer. When your best defenders are out, why not go for it. I'm sure Arteta has his reasons. Hopefully we improve.

I think the enforced chopping and changing at the back has restricted Mikel’s ability to mix things around higher up the pitch. If he’d been able to field an identical back 4 over the past 6 weeks then my guess is that we’d have seen Jesus up top, Havertz doing MØ and Trossard & Martinelli sharing LW/impact sub duties. But Mikel does have a conservative streak and I think that if he’s having to tinker at the back week after week then he is reluctant to change things in other parts of the pitch (unless it’s enforced, obvs).

There's a difference between an excuse and a reason. The biggest REASON we have dropped the points we've dropped are the injuries (followed, in my opinion, by refereeing decisions, and Mikel being too conservative in certain situations). It doesn't excuse it in that we get those points because the FA feel bad. It doesn't mean we didn't drop them. But it explains why we dropped them, which informs how we can evaluate the team. Why were we so unable to create chances vs. Bournemouth? Because our two best chance creators (who incidentally, are two of the best in the WORLD at creating chances) weren't playing. It's that simple.

Terrible take. Thay goal could have come from another angle. Kiwior doesn't deal woth it and miles inexperience allows nunez to get the better. A multi combo here and losing the ball in the attacking third can be forgiven but being pulled apart and opened up from when the ball is in opponents half is not as u didn't do your job as defenders. Stop throwing shade at the manager there really isn't much he could dom I'm sure if we had odegars on the bench than nelli wouldn't have remained but thats how it is

Arsenal are too slow in build up at the moment. Too often a backward pass is made rather than a forward one, or we look to make the through the eye of a needle pass rather than a simple one. Liverpool and Bournemouth both exposed this with quick forward balls. Give Martinelli and Saka a run, put ball over top on occasions.

Sir I hope you see my comment, the Liverpool game show me that it’s not because we have lost our best defenders and captain, we had enough depth and quality to outplay Liverpool, and we did. Our problem is not having a balanced technical striker and winger on the left (when Jesus is not playing) that second Liverpool goal is because of martinelli just not taking that damn ball and keeping it, but rather turning it over as he and havertz does so often. Please don’t tell me about their defensive workrate, they are not defenders, to work hard defensively should be going above and beyond for them, not the main task, we need quality upfront to keep possession of the ball and get more shots on target, that automatically keep the opposition team in their half more

Something that would help Arsenal win games where we are bad or unlucky with injuries is a fast direct striker. Even City play bad games and have injuries, but they have a striker that still can score if they play bad. We need that type and I think the best option rn is Sesko. He offers it all, we just have to improve on it. Not saying Havertz out btw, I just see him more as a striker that makes his teammates flourish. Sometimes you need a player that has a ego to go on his own.

Amine Gouiri, Victor Roque or Gabriel Vidovic. We need a skill moves capable/tiki taka capable/creative/silky/tekky/technical striker who loves possession and loves to drop deep, similar to Firmino, Aguero, Suarez, Van Persie, Sanchez, Jesus, Trossard, Felix, Berbatov, Benzema. Havertz lacks magic. He is not Cazorla on the ball. Haaland is the reason Man City is playing poorly.

Respectfully wholeheartedly I disagree with the statement we have the squad depth. Why didn’t we do the right thing in the summer. We don’t have those players to call upon in a sense of a Ødegaard as we can see Arteta is reluctant to use Nwaneri and let ESR, Viera go without a replacement. And technically we have only Merino as a CM, as Rice doesn’t look comfortable playing there yet this season shows, Partey/Jorginho/Rice are all DM. And we don’t have depth on attack as Jesus and Sterling haha been underwhelming. And I believe those margins in singing a new gk I’m Raya or Caliafori… Why have we not done the same with attack with Martinelli and Jesus struggling for over a season? We seen in Bournemouth that both Saka and Oodegaard missing we have no attacking or creative threat. Just my opinion

I wouldn’t say so, it seemed more like a stalemate waiting for a break through. If we didn’t go down to 10 men, and Saliba being the one sent off, I don’t think we would’ve at the very least lost that game. But you might of seen/feel something I didn’t, what’s your thoughts?

The reason Arsenal are not higher up on the goals overturned by VAR is that the refs whistles for a foul before we even get the ball in the net. Can’t overturn a goal if it never went in the net.

I don't like the fact that we are dropping off in the second halves of games. We play attacking football in the first, but then when the energy drops a little bit, we retreat, especially if we have the lead. It's not just one game where it happened, it's a pattern. It brings back bad memories from the Emery era. Arteta is feeling the pressure.

Alex the only issue I have with what you said is the moment you listed the defenders unavailable and used the word EXCUSE. It's never acceptable it's REASON - Not you!, anyone who ignores the real impact of such a depletion in key resources and the impact that has on your teams capability is burying their head in the sand, unaware or ignoring factors that affect outcome, they are ignorant to the information or an idiot.

You can’t analyse completely without considering the personnel that are missing, the squad is built with specific profiles to execute particular game plans in particular game states. When your depth is emptied out the analysis is warped, much in the same way that beating 9 men 7-0 will warp the strength of a win.

Anyway, Martinelli needs to move with his eyes up a bit more. Seems to me like he used to be a better decision maker on the ball than he is now. Had a better balance of when to take defenders on, when to pass and go etc. He’s improving but he’s still a ways from his best

If zinchenko, jesus,sterling, kiwior and jorginho are not good enough what are they doing in your squad? Why haven't they been sold and replaced with better players? Shouldn't you be challenging on multiple fronts? Yet you have " Sunday best Players" and " work overall players"?. 800m and this is the best you can do? Set piece merchants? Okay get the real Tony pulis in and dispense with the fake one in arteta.

@jonreid91
@jonreid91 23 күн бұрын
I am right with you on the fact that while excuses are frustrating, this season we've actually had a silly number of legitimate ones, BUT the one place I'd push back? The fact that we carry Tomiyasu (and give him a new contract) and Jesus KNOWING how injury prone they are. There is an element of not being able to belabour our injury luck if we carry MULTIPLE players that are perennially injured. Same applies to Partey. So when we have that many defenders out, there is an element of critique for the fact that we kept Tomi and didn't acquire someone more reliable to potentially fill in that squad spot which would allow us to have not played Kiwior on the weekend. I know that may be getting too deep, but I think it's a legitimate critique. Again, I'm with you on the adversity we've faced and, frankly, can't believe we're only as far off the top as we are. League better watch out, because once healthy, this side is going to be pissed and looking to go on a tear.
