What a talent he was, energetically and musically getting Patti to the sing with the Angels 50 thousand feet above us. He kept that band tight and professional onstage. It brings a HUGE TEAR to my eye. Seeing Luther and Patti like this together. She loved him SO SO MUCH and vice versa. We truly lost an icon and vocal phenom when he passed. I know it affected Patti tremendously. Everyone knows or should know now that he was gay and he struggled with that big time. Patti knew and his closest friends of course. But that doesn't take away from the wonderful human being and artist he was. I love ya Luther miss you VERY MUCH. Being a singer myself you and Patti both have brought me A LOT of inspiration to the gift of voice the lord blessed me with.

In the 90s the technical acuity across the board in music took a hard reset (it was needed) but then the advent of digital recording didn't give the next generation of singers a chance to fail because you could "fix" things. The trailblazers before them not only had to basically nail it in the studio, but icons like the 3 I mentioned had to fight through a lot of adversity.
