To me its mostly Devin Jin heat smash and some heat properties. That move is insane, you block you guess, you move you get hit, and its pretty much full screen. I feel like thats the biggest issue and they're nerfing little things about him but i thought that one needed a touch up more than anything in his kit. Hopefully they don't ignore that while nerfing other things, then just nerf it way later to where Devil Jin sucks.

I'm so happy I wasn't crazy about Xiaoyu. I've played a few of them and the second they go into heat it's a brand new match. Even labbing against it the only answer I could come up with was to just block and guess until it runs out.

Almost everything she does is punishable though (bad frames on block, short range no pushback), and so many moves/strings are very easily stepped/sidewalked. She has less frame traps than many other chars. She relies on whiff punish with her movements ( fantastic AOP and RDS), but she needs to take risks to achieve that. She is successful in the right hands because very few players are familiar with her high speed tricks, frames and mixups then panic under her pressure. She has great 50-50s for sure and excellent evasiveness so she forces her opponents to adjust their usual gameplan and get out of their comfort zone. Also competent Xiaoyu mains are usually very skilled players because you need fast technical execution, a creative approach to open up opponents and solid matchup knowledge to whiff punish, she is not easy to pick up ( one of the deepest movelist) and perform well with. I could teach my grandmother to play Victor or Paul but the likes of Ling, Yoshi or Lee are more demanding in terms of high speed and precise execution IMO.

Anyone who is surprised Reina or Victor isn’t here must play either one of those characters. Most of Reina and Victor players have the EXACT same offensive plans and once it’s found out, your character is no longer a threat. Heavy on the Victor especially.

As a Reina main I can approve this message. All you need is Standing block and watch for her small list of lows. Still a good character but you really have to work hard once people knows how to counter her.

Victor has really bad frames. Once you start blocking him, most Viktor players falter. Also most Reina players are cheeky with the jabs and Sentai mixups. Once you stop pressing buttons against her, she just dies to punishes.

Guy has super good high crushes, super good lows, best wall damage in the game, one of the best wall carrying, all his launchers go for ~50% in open field even without heat, and has evasion nearly on par with the female characters with the exception of Ling which can high crush even ants. They took away his pickup combos and qcf4 pressure in the open, but you can still do d4,4 for pickup after uf4 for a good amount of damage, and qcf4 while pushing back can still be used at a wall. He's easily top 5.

as a xiaoyu player I think that low not being launch punishable is pretty crazy. during heat there's no reason not to press it, all they're going to get is a really small WS punish, but if you land it you're going to about 50 damage, and upwards to 90 if you take an extra step in hyp. knee is saying the only nerf he wants to her is to have it be -14 or -15

She isn't top 5. I started off by maining her and he is correct with everything he says. If you are patient and hold block and sidestep, there is not too much that she can do. I quickly got bored of her though. She is much too simple and pulling off something with her never really gives me that excitement, because it's all so easy. Also struggling to break down turtling players was getting annoying. The second hit of nearly EVERY string she has is also a high. If she is using strings, just duck and punish. She struggles a lot against patient players with good defence, leaving her only real option to go for risky 50/50 stance mixups. Only move she has that is OP is WR32. It either shouldn't jail, or it shouldn't track so much. The rest of her kit is fine

I am curious to see what Sonics opinion will yield. Iknow a lot of us here are tekken people but as someone who follows all fighting games, sonic is known to have a contrarian take that eventually becomes so. Yes Zafina is good because her Akward timing, her body movements are inherently designed to throw you off. She is designed to be that way, she was top tier in tekken 7 as well. I don’t think her combo damage being lower is something that’s going to matter when she has ways of using armor as well as staying grounded to really screw up opponents’ offensive options. I’m a huge believer in top player downplaying also because it’s in their best interest to keep secrets from the community and coming out with a new killer later on makes for ongoing content creation. Pros in other games have openly talked about doing some of that.

If something is too hard. Read their movement and react to it. That is turning of characters, shouting of certain words, arm movement and even leg movement. From their movement can come the decision on where the strike may go to. Unless it is a weird hitbox. Then learning the move itself helps.

Jack 8 side step is really bad and you can step out of a decent bit of his mix. Right now I think side step is still undervalued because most players still have T7 brain (totally reasonable after so long on T7). But I think once the game develops more people are going to realize more how good side steps are and subsequently how strong good homing is.

I think victor is so heavily underrated, he’s definitely at the very least a top 8 character

When you learn defense vs Azucena & Victor their offense isn't scary. Jack is big so he takes more damage from the rest of the cast when they apply Jack specific combos and he also can't sidestep to create wiff opportunities like the rest of the cast which is pretty huge

Victor players all have the same offense tho. Get a db4 CH combo, command grab, or sword moves until it hits. That’s the whole offense.
