Thanks Aamna for bringing this young lad, for a very good insight to his struggles, in getting his foothold in the acting industry! I think it’s ironic that very seasoned Indian actors like Shabhana Azmi was able to work with Sajal Ali in a British production by Jemima Khan, and as such maybe if films are made overseas then the local Indian ban might become weak, as there are already huge Indian fans for Pakistani actors/ singers! I saw Atif Aslam in a concert in Adelaide and 90% of the absolutely wild and avid fans were of Indian origin! Art has no boundaries!

Annoyingly it's politics that dictates art everywhere nowadays. Just look at both Hollywood and Bollywood and the types of messaging and propaganda each industry pushes in their movies. The former pushes what I would say are extreme liberal beliefs and the latter panders to extreme Hindu right-wing groups. These restrictions that prevent Pakistani-Indian collabs in the movie and music industry is disheartening in the same way, but like you said only international projects outside of India and Pakistan would allow us to overcome this for audience to be able to enjoy their favourite Indian and Pakistani talents together.
