Wow! I was in the audience at this gig. They also played a few times at Sweet Basil. Blood is TOTALLY swinging in this setting, in his own unique way. This was by far my favorite context for Blood, but to my knowledge they never recorded together. Thanks for putting up this video. Brings back great memories!

Your most favourite Setting? Really? I mean it IS interessting and also good, but it IS not what Made Blood Blood. Typical Reaction of a Fusion instead of Funk Lover.

@@erikheddergott5514 Well, I like 'Freelancing' and 'Black Rock' too...I just like this freer setting more.

@@Oroonie There are some Music Revelations and Original Phalanxes quite a bit more Free I do think, me I am in favor of Odysee, my most beloved Record of the 80ties. Thanks for Answering my Conquest, I feel a bit flattered to be honest.

What a revelation to see JBL in this setting. Likewise John Hicks-loved his records and saw him with a Jazz Messengers alumni band, all wonderful-but to hear him stretch out and explore like this…wow. He's missed. Thank you for posting!

BTW Blood Ulmer played (but did not record) with the Jazz Messengers in the very early 1970s.

The music is just pouring out here. Masters of their instruments all, so open to each other and of the moment. Must have been a thrill and a gas for them too. Thanks for posting this rarity.
