I didn’t have to grow older to want peace and tranquillity. It has been a desire for as long as I can remember. Maybe because I was raised by a mother who thrived on drama until her dying day at 92. She couldn’t stand to be around “old people “. Even though she was older than they were. RIP MOM finally resting and probably hating it.

You are right. For us, in our mid-50’s, We are focusing on the home we’ve been in for 15 years that we’ve taken for granted and really has great potential. The improvements We are looking at designed to ad to our peace and tranquillity. Maybe because We stay home so much more as we get older and not on the go to Weekends in Chicago or Wisconsin. More of a focus on relaxing in our nest here on the Shore of a beautiful river.

Great project -- but a bit of an "Oops" in making a reference to "the altar area". The building was one of a standard design used by the United Free Church of Scotland from 1906-1929 (a point which wasn't brought out clearly) and the old photo actually showed in print that that's what it was. In which case it would most certainly NOT have had an altar. Need to do research a bit more carefully on that one, especially when most episodes of the show place an emphasis on historical research.

I found the art deco style with the glass blocks and furniture unique in the atmosphere of an older church. Typically, the style would be a play upon Gothic style. So they have made the place truly their own. I admire their work ethic.
@michaeltutty15403 жыл бұрын
What a spectacular transformation!! Simply beautiful. The work on the building is amazing, and their Art Deco finishes and furniture are absolutely stunning!! The clean lines and beautiful woods play off against the carpenter gothic of the building to perfection. There is no praise too high for what they achieved. To be honest, I even prefer the timber for the windows. That far north, metal window frames are no fun at all. The metal has no thermal break, so the cold will come right through.

George that's what you need to learn to do...enjoy the journey, not just the destination...forget deadline, they just give you stress, grey hair and heart attacks. Lovely hard working couple creating their dream in a beautiful setting...Do all UK people go on holidays at the same time? that's a bit of a bugger. In Oz people go when they want to. I mean, why would you want to go to a beautiful secluded space along with thousands of others? Wouldn't you want to wait until things quieten down, especially if you had no kids, so hopefully the prices would be lower too - surely there's a market for tourist all year long. Offer Artist retreats, Writers Retreats etc etc you have glorious countryside around you....I wish this lovely couple all the best from Western Australia

I come from an area just a bit down the coast and around the corner from here. Our childhood church also has one of these church halls. Very similar in look and construction. We used it for Sunday school, church dances and in the winters, badminton. I'm guessing there were quite a few of them constructed around the same time period. The fish farm that their friend Tony spoke of, is really near my home town.
